what do you do when you find out your kid is smoking??

my nephew got caught with weed like 2 months ago my brother whiped his ass and he thught that would do the trick well he was wrong i was at his house a couple weeks ago playing playstation with him went in his draw to get a game he got up real quick and tried to stop me i found a little nick bag with some swag in it i guess he thought nobody would go in there cause he lives with his grandparents and frankly there are pieces of shit he gets away with anything he wants all and all thou he is a good kid he is kinda like my son cause my brother was in out jail his first couple years so i sat him down and talked to him about why he wants to smoke weed and everything to be honest i think he just has a little to much freedom problay everything i told im went in one ear out the other but atleast i tried so i know how it is

Yeah, it's tough. Hanging with older kids you do grow up faster than normal. As I myself am a product of that. I don't know. Show him all those pictures of the meth head before/after mugshots that were floating around. That might rattle his cage at 14. Also nobody ever beat me. Maybe you should beat him.

i beat him last year when i found out some dumb shit he was doing.. he freaked.. he really doesn't like to be yelled at much and hitting him was just awful, i don't know who felt worse, me or him, lol.. the thing was i had told him like a week prior the next time i heard he was up to some dumb shit i was going to beat his ass, and i felt like it was something i had to hold up, or he would never have any respect for me and would walk all over me...


i was thinking about taking him to the hood and showing him where addiction can lead you to... not sure if seeing the mean streets would be enough of a reality call or not...

sounds a lot like my situation kiz.. my sister loves him obviously, but damn if her life don't come first and she has been dumping him off on my mom and i since he was an infant so that she could run out and do what ever she wanted to do...
i feel bad though, he is a really good kid, always has been... gets good grades in school, and was just recommended for honors english next year.. my other sisters kid is a fucking pain in the ass, wise ass and has been since he was small.. it just kills me to watch him go through this is all..

We have long drawn out discussions with out oldest child about to ask mommy when your friends ask you to try drugs and that I'll let him know if it something that is alright to mess around with or better left alone...I am hoping that with everything open we can discuss everything in a nice light...like we had the DARE program will lie to you about some drugs and make them sound awful, when in reality some are awful and some are not so awful...but that it is easy to get messed up when all you hear is how terrible they are and then one day you find out that some aren't so terrible, so perhaps the others aren't so terrible...well they are...I am just a straight shooter...So I would have the weed is alright, but avoid cocaine and heroine, and anything too terribly serious...give him the everyman's drug classification sheet...I don't think that choosing to smoke weed should be made too big a deal out of...I would worry more about the what we do and do not put on facebook and tell friends and such....like if he thinks he is old enough to smoke pot he should damn well be old enough to not let jesus and everyone not alright with it know...

I probably would have ran up to him and took the joint real quick, give him a super stern look as I walk away shaking my head in feigned disgust, then when I was out of eye sight I'd fire up his hoja to see if it was better than mine. If it isn't, I'd lecture him on the dangers of shitty weed. If it was better than mine, I probably try and get a line to his source. Purely for research.

I would never introduce a kid to pot, but if I caught them smoking it I imagine I'd be thankful it wasn't meth or anything else chemical.

don't get it twisted johnny, i am really glad it is only weed, i just worry at this young of an age, if he's using weed, what maybe next?? i know weed is not a gateway drug and all, but my thing is if you're willing to smoke weed, what else may you be willing to try at some later point??

That is why I'd educate his little ass. I'd probably tell him how lucky he was that I caught him smoking the one substance that is mostly harmless, threaten him with a foot deep in his ass if I found out he tried harder stuff, then educate him on what is in the harder stuff and show him what meth heads and crackheads and stuff look like.
Of course, all of this after I try his weed.

nah, i didn't fuck with his shit on fb as i didn't really want to embarrass the kid as i was often embarrassed as i kid and know how that feels.. but that was a good story, lol..

Just a suggestion, people deserve a little humility if they're trying to get in trouble publicly.

if you think his friend's a bad influence, then I would try to fix that somehow. Kids looking up to kids is a bad thing.
