im sure you put a pic up of where you grow your clones and if i remember right it defo looked a tad messy....hhmmm

some strains are just hard to root ime.. i recently tried to root some sour strawberry kush from bog that i had going for like over 3 weeks before i gave up on them, and i just recently got roots on some purple berry diesel in 3 days using the same methods..
unclebuck as had 100% on clones he as been growing for years and now he is getting poor results on clones, so if all the things he uses is 100% clean and rooting powder is new its then down to what he is doing or using to grow them

that was where rooted clones go to veg initially, and they are just fine.

as i detailed in this thread already, lower success rates have lead me to improve my already highly sterile method, to no improvement.

wait till summer and the warm weather....clones seems to do really good in a dome in the summertime...i hate the cold season my clones always suffer...clones that take 2 weeks to root in the summer will take 5-6 weeks in the colder temps

i have a few trains that root before others. headband comes to mind as a quicker rooter, afwreck comes to mind as a bit slower. black domina is speedy, as is god bud, nycd seems to take a little longer.

***like***

summer always brings higher success rates, but i've never gone through a winter with success rates this poor.

it's soon to be over, luckily, and i have managed to produce as many plants as i need, even if i have to make due with strains i want less.

in that case its down to what your doing after you have cloned them...spill the beans ;-)

I was going to suggest an aerocloner, but Wordz already posted and described it, more or less. My variant that i used 11 years ago has 2" holes and foam plugs/"corks" to locate the clones. In fact, I need to make another if my reveg succeeds. DIY Rubbermaid aerocloners (with air stones and an aquarium heater) are a good thing imo and ime. cn

Buck, I know they're expensive, but is getting an ez-cloner an option? They're not the end all, since I've had strains that don't root well even in there, but with clonex and a a disinfected cloner, we get great results. This hobby is hard enough when you're serious about it, its a must have to at least get that off the list. If they don't clone well in there, by by strain.

Hope it gets better for ya bro. Shit makes you want to pull out your hair sometimes huh LOL! Stupid fucking weeds are supposed to just cooperate damnit :).

oops.....it looks like the responses are hitting at once....this has already been discussed. Sorry for the double and triple info.

a cloner is my method of last resort, but i am getting close to wanting one.

it's comforting to see that others have had this strange experience of same method = less success.

Naw man, sounds like yer on the right path... Perlite, peatmoss-heavy medium that isn't nuted-up, and a lil rooting hormone is all I ever use under a CFL array, watered with a liquid seaweed mix, and I still have varied success, depending on which strains I'm working with... Cloning can just be plain finicky with some strains, and as simple as pinching off a shoot with yer fingers and poppin it in some basic medium to take root... It all depends... I had NO success with sum 100% Purple Afgan Kush last go round, but am having great success with the Panama Red I'm currently working with...

ez-cloner is not a fixall. Lots of people including myself have had problems with mushy stems and slime. EWC tea supposedly fixes, but not worth the bother in my view. Rockwool, dome + heat equals near 100% success for me. I see the ezcloner people have developed an add on they claim temps up to 85 degrees are ok, wish that was around before I traded mine to try lol.

do you take clones from the mother plant when she is in flower or chop down day ?
a mother is no longer a mother when she's in flower, now is she?

i have an array of vegging teens that i take clones from. they get cycled out as new ones come in. i don't really keep mothers.

If you change out your water every 3 days youll never see slime :) or add 1 1/2 oz Clonex clear rex once every 5 days

I have a ezcloner 60... the one that gives people the so called problems.....ph water to 6 ...temps 70-80 mines at 81... I use 5 ml root excel to 8 gallons water

I use it for my hard to root strains.... like ECSD and Chem4

i've had my eyes on those easy cloners, but i'm holding out for now. more primitive techniques seem to produce excellent results when done right.

i'm not at the end of my rope with clones...yet.

i'm testing a 50/50 perlite/EWC medium with 3 clones right now. i'll let ya know how it goes. some young fella on here touted it.
