I suck and I'm venting

thanks, my little stalker friend. i'm thinking it might just be crazy and simple enough to work.
You welcome.
Are we "friends" now ? What will people say, lol ?
I bet you percentage will increase. I don't know the final destination of your clones, but if it is soil I would just use Jiffy seed starting mix. It has a good amount of vermiculite in it and works really well. Things don't tend to damp off like when using regular potting mix.

i think we've trolled each other as much as possible, so maybe friends is the next step.

they will go into roots "green lite" soil after they establish roots.

I didn't read every post but I have had good success almost 100 percent with dip n gro , plastic cups , organic soil and (125 watt philips) incandescent plant lights. I didn't use a fluorescent for clones all winter and made as many clones as I needed, the perlite dousn't retain moisture and the cutting should be moist. I don't use my humidity dome just put them in soil, a foot or foot and a half under the light, mist with water once or twice a day and water the roots once a day or more.
I noticed it's important to get the cups ready first so I can plant the cuttings and water quick, also rooting powder can get old and you can't let any water in the bottle. organic potting soil for clones is working for me almost every time

Hey if I'm not really anyone to give advise on what actions to take to solve ur issues but I saw another guy that was having similar problems and because the EZ-Cloner was too expensive made his own homemade one, I forget what the thread was but it was on this forum site, unless that was u that posted it Unclebuck.

put it in mineral water right after cutting soak it up then dip it in your medium i use rapid rooters, i like to use Microbrew From Fox Farm ppm 40,about 1-2 tsp per gallon ,ph at 5.8 thn i place em in trays then place them in the dark for 6 hours then place them in domes with a t5 strip and get a 70% when i had a heat mat success rate was higher,

some time depending on temp and how healthy the plant your taking the cutting from is, 90% each batch im going to get a heat mat soon to get those batchs but im ok with the 2-3 dying outta the 10 for right now

Why do so many make it so complicated? For soil; cut, dip in hormone, put in moist peat puck, into propagator with a bit of water in the bottom then put it under lights and wait. 100% success rate (bar the odd "bad cut").

It's just strange that people use machines for a job a glass of water can do, tis all, no need to be so aggressive, we're all baked here ;)

some dont need help as thay know it all and uncle no fuck is one who dont need help as his clones are spot on dead just how he wants them

i had a friend of mine come by and try his technique, which is jiffy rooters into a real humidity dome and under a stronger light and a heating pad on at times (and gel instead of powder). had about 50% success on those, but they look much uglier by the time they root. will probably try that method again and see if i can't dial it in more.
so i tried this method again. first try was 7/25, this time it was 19/22.

only thing i changed was powder instead of gel, and i made sure to knock off the excess instead of clumping it on. i also took more uniform cuts than my friend did and spaced them more uniform.

also, i kept the heating pad on 24/7, and the cuttings got roots in the 2 days that is was suddenly warm. so i think i know what the culprit is: root warmth.

i'm going to try this method again and try to dial in the attention a little more. 86% success rate was a pretty fucking good improvement.

when my cloning stresses me out i do this

party cup
29 percent hydrogen peroxide
superthrive
1 gallon water(tap)
2-3 ml peroxide
3-5 drops superthrive
take cutting
place in cup
change water every 2-3 days
takes longer
VERY high success rate
stop being fancy for a bit - go bend a plant
place in cup

Fungus among us. Spray everything with 10% bleach solution, clean it up.

Good advice & spot on in my book.

When your methods have not changed & everything is the normal routine except success rates then you allways look to sterility issues 1st.

I went thru the same shit years back, tried a ton of methods & shit was all messed up,threw everything away & started again with fresh humidome & knife & bingo 99% success rate again.

Ever since i bleach out the grow area & humidome before i get started, wear gloves, dip my scalpel in rubbing alcohol between cuttings,i even replace the humidome every 2 cycles, success rate has stayed near 100% ever since.

yeah, the closet is haunted now. i had cleaned it out with bleach solution but same thing happened. even the tomatoes i germinated in there got some sort of fungus on the soil after a few weeks.

the latest batch with 19/22 happened in my wife's office/guest bedroom, and that's where the clones will stay from now on. that closet is now a storage closet. fuck it.

Buck, perhaps spores are entering from your air supply?
could very well be. it's just an old closet in the house, everything else plant related is done in the garage. only ever had mold happen out there once when i let some dense buggers go way too long (it was during the outdoor harvest, had to get the outdoor stuff down in a hurry).

it's possible i have mold spores in the house somehow that find their way into that closet.

If you can provide an absolute path of air (no intake leak), you could set up a screen covered in a fungicide to trap/kill those spores. There are several natural fungicides available, such a tea tree oil, milk, rosemary oil, kelp, cinnamon essential oil.. Check out a larger list at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fungicide
would be a good idea if i wanted to keep that closet as a designated clone closet, but it's easy enough to just stick them in another room for now.

good info to keep in mind for the years ahead though! thank you stranger :)
