I know this sounds crazy but i am considering doing an apollo 6 or 8 in white 2700. am i crazy?
Now that would be interesting. I have yet to see an all white led (full spectrum or not) be used in the flowering stage. Try it out and report back!

I am waiting for a quote and actual wattage on the apollo 6 2700k.

I also have a blackstar240 and a no name model that puts out a nice purple spectrum and a sunshine45 glow panel. so i would love to have an all 2700 for flower in led to add to the mix im sure it would be better then hanging cfls.

First of Mr. Sing is very quick to respond with any questions you may have. He IS the manufacturer and is willing to do any spectrum you want. I just want the 2700k full led. I am trying to decide if i want the 4 or 6. His quote on the apollo4 was 196 shipped and the apollo is 252 shipped. Each orb will only have 12 leds not 15 due to them all being white.

The 6 is only 56 bucks more so its not the money that im trying to figure out its the wattage and heat output.

I asked him what temp the units ran at and his reply was 55 celcius (131f). That is a high temp for leds, I believe they run best @80-100. If the leds burn out faster your not dealing with a us based company where you can have recourse or easy warranty service. I know this unit is modular and that helps mitigate the risk of "going dark" but its still a hassle to wait for Mainland China shipments.

My other issue is that the apollo6 runs draws around 200 or 215 watts think, that may be high for my personal needs as I already have three units, I might just go for the apollo4.

As far as getting a quote. Mr Sing, clearly uses a service to field basic questions. Remember he is the manufacturer and does NOT stock prefabricated units. He builds each light to your custom specs and some spectrums cost less. I had all my questions answered within a 1 hour period

I would also like to add that any ebay or blackstar units you are seeing are just customers that placed/committed large orders in a specific spectrum. They then sell those units for a markup. However the spectrum has already been decided for you. Cheaper price less options.

I bet when blackstar finally advertises their units they will msrp @ keystone x2 good margins. so you can figure a "blackstar apollo4" to be in the 300 plus and up from there with the 6 8 10. Blackstar or any other company for that matter will sell you on how great their spectrum is.

3 Red 630-640nm
2 Red 620-630nm
1 Orange 610-615nm
2 Blue 450-470nm
1 Blue 420-430nm

1 White 6500K

lenses: 90 degree angle



in one 4x4 tent I will use 2 Apollo 12s, and the other Apollo 12 will go into another 4x4 tent with my two Blackstar 240s. I will supplement both tents with 2700K and UVB CFLs during flowering

Can't wait to see this! I'll be in the market for another new light in the next few months so I'll be keeping a close eye. Any idea when we'll see these in action?

It depends on which LEDs you customize (everything in bold ​below is a direct quote from Mr. Sing Lee @ Cidly):

3W LEDs input voltage:

Red and Orange =2.7V
Blue, White and UV LEDs= 3.8V
IR LED=1.7V


input current is 700mA or 730mA(according to clients' demand)

Therefore for individual LED (Blue is 700mA, Red is 730mA):

Red and Orange LED power is 2.7x0.7=1.89W or 2.7x0.73=1.971W
Blue,White & UV LED is 3.8x0.7=2.66W or 3.8x0.73=2.774W
IR is 1.7x0.7=1.19W or 1.7x0.73=1.241W


so therefore:

Apollo 12 built with 10 pcs Red LEDs, 1pcs Orange LED, 3pcs Blue LEDs, 1pcs White LED, the actual power:

Input current 700mA: 11x1.89+4x2.66=31.43Wx12=377W.
Input Current 730mA: 11x1.971+4x2.774=32.77x12=393W.

And the old model 3W LED grow light input current is 630mA, so their power are lower.


So yeah, my Apollo 12 running at 700mA will require 377W for just the LEDs, and I think the Apollo 12 has 8 fans, I'm going to guess running around 4-5W each? (guessing here)... 8 x 4 = 32 more watts, or 8 x 5 = 40 more watts, so yeah each of my Apollo 12 will be running somewhere around 377 + 32-40 = 409-417W

You can use the information above to calculate the power for any customized Apollo... good luck and happy growing! (Keep in mind I am guessing on the 4-5W/fan...)

I emailed Sing about the fans, asked him the size, CFM, power draw of the fans in the Apollo series... and how many are in an Apollo 12... I'll let you know the response...
