(BIG BIG BIG) Odor control problems

I've been growing now nearly 20 years and no matter what I buy or how I use it, ODOR CONTROL has been my biggest problem. I've bought/used virtually everything to address this problem without success. Even with the most advanced (biggest?) carbon filters to ozone generators to masking agents or gels, there is still smell in the exhaust.

Grow shop advice hasn't help me, but I'm sure its helped the grow shops bottom line. At first I was told my room was too hot/humid and humidity essentially eliminates any benefit that a carbon filter would have. After buying a dehumidifier and AC, that myth was busted, no real change in odor outside. I exhaust up the fireplace at least 15ft above where anyone would walk, yet when I approach the house, theres no mistaking the skunky smell. Odor control gels like Ona seem to only add to odor.

Anyone have any ideas? Please don't reply if your experience is merely from a box or closet grow, they simply do not produce the odor from 5 or 10K watt set ups.

Run a sealed room... Exhaust only hot air that passes through sealed hoods and is never exposed to the room. If you need to further control temps get a good AC unit.

Hey POTF.... If it is in the exhaust then I would run a LARGE ozone generator.... Don't use the UV lamp type, get the corona discharge type they are much stronger.... You need to mount it in the beginning of the ducting so it has time to mix with the smell and neutralize.... I made a beast of a ozone generator on time out of a 15kv neon sign transformer, 8" by 24" piece of PVC pipe, a peice of glass and wire mesh... that fucker killed everything.... I vented all that shit into the attic so when it came out of the attic vents it did not smell like anything... I knew the day I had a problem with the breaker connected too that unit the day I drove up to the spot and could smell it down the block... reset, smell all gone and it did not smell like ozone either.... You need a fan exhausting the whole time to keep negative pressure on your room, if you have a fan sucking through a carbon filter then you should be good. Unless you have a oscilating fan blowing at a crack in your room

I have experience running 5+ light of og kush and carbon filters work in a room with negative pressure posting your current setup would help figure out what's going on cause all the methods you posted do work...

I have negative pressure and am trying a new system. I run the exhaust into the bottom off a 35 gallon can. It goes in the bottom with a mesh tube to distribute the air. Then I filled the sucker with hardwood charcoal. So far so good. Threw an orange stinky cake on top for the hell of it.

as long as it works i know a few people with home made carbon filters that work as well as store bought ones or better in your case which is cool. The grow shop is right high humidity will decrease the efficiency of a carbon filter but if your room is in check this shouldnt be a problem. you may have just needed more carbon ( i ran a 747cfm fan thru one filter for 30-40 og and i now use that same filter recirculating in6x6 sealed room with 10 or so plants and it works for both rooms but 10 lights worth of shit and one filter is not enough lol good stuff anyways bro just wanted to add some experience
