Same strain different smell?

Two growers same strain everything the same in technique. EXCEPT he has 2.5 (3400 vs. 1400) times more wattage. Mine doesn't have quite the extreme aroma on some of my strain's as his? Input?

Everything is the same? Same medium, same nutes, same additives, same exact genetic makeup (clones), same ppms, same brand of bulbs, same flower time, same odor control? Surely something is different.

Different phenos. One has dominant traits from one parent, and the same with the other.

That's assuming he's growing from seed. I can't believe than anyone with a grow larger than 1k grows from seed. Clones are the professional way.
if folk only ever grew from clones the genetic gene pool would stagnate
some folk are afraid to select their own pheno's and only seem to want to grow the clones their hipster buddies think are cool

i found it strange when i found out some growers have never even taken their own cuttings, they buy them lol
and have never even grown a plant from seed to full maturity

peace :)

True. However the problem with seed is that you never know what you're getting. I'm sure that large commercial growers do grow from seed from time to time, but I doubt that it's more than a few plants at a time, simply to pheno hunt. Who wants to invest 3 months of time and energy on the unknown. I've grown 3 different starins from seed so far this year. The first two have been terrible, although they were "cup winners", but here were single seeds and I didn't pheno hunt. I've grown several clone strains next to those seed plants, and the clones are awesome and consistent as fuck.

I've tried to figure it out same everything except more wattage and perhaps different bulbs. I just can't figure it out?

I agree we only use clones and are plants consistently look genetically (we have a pool of 9 strains) the same except naturally he gets higher yields because of the increased wattage. Can't figure it out for the life of me! The quality is very similar though.

One possible difference is I am in a large open room with tons of fresh air and he is in a more enclosed area but has top of the line venting and enviornment as well.

My guess would be bulb type. Perhaps he uses a bulb with a more enhanced blue spectrum. Find out what kind of bulbs he uses. Are you both running magnetic ballasts or digital? Also, is his controlled environment CO2 enhanced?

We both use a mix of digital and magnetic ballasts and neither rooms CO2 enhanced maybe it is the bulbs because they are different but we both use MH (veg) and HPS for flowering? Thanks guys for all your input!
