Daily Dose of Cannabis Reduces Risk of Stroke By 50%

Awesome info! thanks for sharing.

OT: Why does the media seem to thrill at the opportunity to call marijuana "Pot" or "Weed" with a negative connotation anytime it's covering on the medical benefits, but when they bust transporters &/or grow houses etc. it's usually "Marijuana".....just sayin'...kinda fun how the reporter seems to like to say pot like lil kids like to say pop!

Taking it too seriously can brand you as a "marijuana advocate". That's a no no in the corporate world.

Problem is you are more than three times more likely to have a heart attack after smokeing pot... I know I had mine, relaxing a few minutes after a joint.

What is it about cannabis that causes heart attacks?

in an online test I found that my risk of stroke in the next 10 years should be 10%

but if I add the daily smoking in the the calculations it'll be down to 5%...

I didn't think the risk of stroke should be so high...

when paranoia starts kicking in or anxiety attacks happen after smoking, maybe those could be related to heart attacks after toking up its possbile. But weed is a calm high generaly,i could see why it would reduce the risk of having a stroke.

Harvard study showed that heart disease risk was lowered with marijuana use. A few studies have shown that smoking ANYTHING increases your heart rate and blood pressure. Good information about the stroke risk and decrease, lets hope a university picks it up as a study.

Did you have a heart condition and maybe smoking only set it off??
Apparently I have very high cholesterol... did not know at the time, as I am not overweight nor do I eat processed or fried foods.

I smoked pot all the way to the hospital with the heart unit. But now I get only some angina when I smoke very strong weed.

I think I just relax too much, and heart rate drops to the point it cant get blood past blockages.

I've been smokeing herb very long, don't get the paranoia thing, but then again I was raised on sativas.

Wow he gave up being a heart surgeon to write recommendations for MMJ.....looks like he knows where the money is. Geez. Great news about the cannabis, but eating an actual bud.......not for me. I wonder how up to speed he is on the concentrates we're making now, including the Simpson Oil.

I saw that and googled a bit and found arguments for both sides...here is what gets me...the studies that found cannabis reduces risk of stroke and heart attack weren't having people or whatever smoke it...

Most of the other studies that found cannabis could increase risks of heart attack and stroke really sounded as if they were using cannabis smoke for their experiments...Which makes a huge difference...

Smoke vs no smoke...

Inhaling smoke from anything is unhealthy...it is the nature of smoke...we can't breathe it...lol. Doesn't matter if it is from tobacco, cannabis, insulation, or newspaper...anytime you inhale smoke you increase your risk of heart attack and stroke...no matter what it is!

So don't do a freaking study study where you use a harmful way to deliver a beneficial substance and then tell everyone it is the substance that did it! What kinds of Scientists do these studies....I haven't even finished college but I know that is not a proper experiment...! I am just a lazy stoner and I can see it...so how do scientists not? Or is it that they are just finding the proof they need to be able to say what they have been paid to find...Either way it isn't right to so misinform people...I don't smoke my cannabis so I am feeling pretty good about it...

I need to read more about the stories about how it increases the risk of depression in depression prone children...I was a depression prone child, that became an adult with serious depression, but I didn't use cannabis until I was an adult, and I have never had it do anything but help...Nothing makes it go away...or if it does it adds some weirdo ttiks or compulsions...I mean you wouldn't think they make a pill that makes you feel compelled to stand up and do something like the hokey pokey and then sit down again over and over and over...but they do...they really do...some of the pills for psychiatric disorders are crazy!!! Anyway...as I got older I learned how to just kind of fake it...and the cannabis just helps me with that...Nothing is going to make this cloud go away, but I can learn to live under it and feel alright...lol.
