2012 outdoor soil mixes!!!!!!

so its that time of year again folks! time to get the holes dug, the grow bags bought, and bringin in the soil mix!
what mixes r u gonna use? what nurtients? organic or synthetic?

here is the main outline of my organic mix this year:
earthworm factory bulk soil mix (peat moss, microbe mulch, fresh wormcastings, mycorrhizae, perlite)
fox farm ocean forest
roots organic 707
garden & bloome harvest supreme
garden & bloome farmyard blend
organic bountea humisoil

these soils will be mixed together to make one big batch of soil, the final mix will be cut 1/3 with small nugget perlite

i will add into the soil:
plant success granular mycorrhizae 3-1-2
happy frog all purpose 5-5-5

i will also use happ frog bulb food 3-8-8 at begining of flower as a top dressing

other than that it will be all filtered water with sum of my compost teas

I have access to composted horse manure and after reading in the forums this seems like a good additive for the soil.

Would it be too much to mix 1/3 manure 1/3 some all purpose soil mix and 1/3 of the original un-enriched soil?
To this I would think I would add some organic slow release fertilizer? Is there a way to test the soil for ph levels to make sure I add the correct supliments to bring the ph to the correct 6 - 7 level?

I would really appreciate some help here as I want this season to be a success!

no all these pre bagged mixes are not neccessary, im jus doing alittle experiment this year, usually i jus mix the worm factory bulk soil with garden & bloome soil amending compost and the garden & bloome farmyard blend

the farmyard blend is a mix of composted chicken shit, steer shit, and diary cow shit, i have used composted horse manure before and liked it, i would go with something like 1/4 horse manure, 1/4 fresh worm castings, 1/4 bagged soil like roots or fox farm, and 1/4 natural soil (ur natural soil isnt un-riched its full of minerals the plants need) dont forget to cut ur mix with perlite, there are a few ways to test ph of soil the easiest is with a soil testing meter, u can find sum tha are pretty long and can go pretty far in ground, or u can by a soil testing kit and take samples of ur mix at different spots in ur holes and test to see what ph is, from there u can decide if u need to fix ph, my favorite slow release organic fert is peace of mind all purpose it can be hard to find but happy frog all purpose is the same thing from literally the same company, dr.earth all purpose is a great organic fert to add as well

Ah. Thought you might have been an old poster here who's name would have abbreviated to KB. Paradise is definitely properly named imo. Sucks all the local dispensaries shut down as we use to have some great strains passing through - we still do of course but it's a bit harder to track em down.

Three ft dia by two ft deep holes backfilled with native sandy loam minus roots rocks and grubs mixed with a bag of Roots707, a 5 gal bucket of sphagnum from bales, a cup of blood meal, a cup of bone meal, and a cup of chicken litter fertilizer top dressing.

I am using pro mix and i found a cheaper version for half the price, But basically spaghum moss, Perlite, Vermiculite, Mixed with some Bat guano.

Then i will be fertilizing with , earth juice for flowering , along with fish emulsion, Molasses, Kelp, Fulvic and Humic Acid, and a special ingrediant, (lol jk forgot the name of the other product)

I wil be considering a good source for myco fungus to be mixed into my soil.

Doing what gives me results.

I might even add a little of the clay dirt soil. Theres no telling what natural micro elements and nutrients lay dormant in that soil we walk on or dont even pass to think of.

na this be the first year im on RIU, didnt have high speed internet for a while (lota companys over charge for slow ass wifi) and dial up is too slow to be worth the time lol, hell ya i love paradise, iz prolly where my next move will be to i mean dont get me wrong i love the college kids here but i like the quite mountain side more, plus if i feel the need to party paradise is only 20min down the hill to the party lol so ive been highly thinkin of movin up there ina season or two, it does suck that all the co ops shut down, i heard theyl be openin again by the end of the year but i wouldnt bet anything on it jus a rumor, we were starting to get alota good strains comin thru and alota the locals were bringin their strains out more too, now its all fuked up, i cant even find a clone of the xj-13 anymore and that was a staple strain for this area, i was lucky enough to aquire the B.C. blue dream and the B.C. green crack, but the green crack is in seed form, what strains u runnin this year, im doing blue dream, thriller, and ashindi

I'm actually no longer in that area. Still have a place in Chico but it'll be gone soon which means no outdoor for me this year Sacramento area for me now which atm means just indoors. Running mostly Chocolope crosses although I think I have a Dutch Treat in the mix and just secured a Harlequin cut.

The greencrack where you are is definitely one of my favorites but I have to say I haven't had a very great sample of Blue Dream except from the Bay Area. BD is one of my top favorites though so its good to hear that some good cuts are floating around.

how sandy is ur native soil? never had to deal with hella sandy soil, let me know how it goes its got me interested, ive always dealt with either clay soil or loome dirt, loome dirt is really easy to dig into and the spot that had the loome was over a old indian ritual ground, my buddys mom own sum property up in igo and would ask us to do the soil work for her (she's a old timer cant do it no more) apperently the indians use to hold religious cerominies where she lived and one spot u can tell was a big fire pit, thas where we dug and it was easy u could throw the shovel into the dirt and it would sink in the dirt, its was easier to shovel and dig thru than bagged potting soil lol she called it loome dirt, ive have heard since then that loome dirt has low nutrients in it but that never seemed to affect her garden, she use to get trees with easy 5 to 6lbs per plant (no i dont have pics of her garden it wasnt my garden and so i respected her wishes tha no pics would be taken) are u adding a cup of ur fertilizers to each holes or are u jus addin it to a bulk mix to fill all the holes up with? id use a cup of each per hole

ive heard alota good feedback on the pro mix, the cheaper version sounds jus as good, hell ya i add sum of that clay dirt in, our natural soils are filled with great nutrients, my backyard looks like a bunch of ewc cause it basically is, idk why but i have literally thousands of worms in my backyard soil and they put in sum fukin work lol this pic is a seedlng that sprouted out during the end of febuary and its still going made it thru rain and hail, i havent had to water it the only thing i did to help it was before this last rain i put alittle potting soil around base of stem to keep it steady cause the winds were harsh that day but that right there will show ya that the natural soil in ur yard definitely has enough nutrient value to raise a plant without human intervention, the sprout is prolly a male but il let it go til it shows me sex and if its a female il keep it

tha sucks all u can do is indo now, but on the bright side atleast u can still do indo better than nothing right? chocolope is prolly my second favorite dna strain right behind dna's sour cream, thas another thing that sucks bout no co ops here is we were starting to get the harlequin cuts in, i was gonna grab one but then it shut down so no harlequin for me, let me know how the harlequin is! ya the green crack round here is good but it can be hard to find good blue dream i was lucky enough to meet a farmer with sum BD that astounded me and i was even luckier he gave me a cutting, il post sum pics of her this year when its get closer to october

fsure those definitely are the two most important thing to address when starting the garden, sunlight and how good the natural soil is, ur mix sounds good how deep are ur guerilla holes gonna be? i remeber doing sum guerilla growing a while ago with sum brick weed bag seed, turned out better than the brick it came from lol i think my holes were round 2ft deep by 3ft wide

Easy digging except for tree roots and sod layer. Worst thing is keeping watered in summer heat reason I add lots of peat.

Yeah, that's what goes into each individual hole.
