Hey Lady J, thanks for the words of wisdom and kindness. Panama City is fantastic. I have a few places over on Punta Pacifica and Punta Paitilla. Just apartments that I invested in and rent out long term. Plus I keep one for myself. Feel free to come visit anytime. Hit me up and I will definitely try and help you out. The mangos are starting to rippen up right now here in Costa Rica. About another week and they will be big and juicy. I have 2 big trees at one of my houses and we have been anxiously waiting. They always rippen this time of year as the rainy season is starting.
Ah rainy season and the flooded gutters =D. I have heard Panama City is much different now. I had left right before they voted in a female president (left in '98). That is awesome that you invested in some apartments. My goal is to save up my money so I can move somewhere in that area and leave America behind! I have been all around the world and the U.S. is my least favorite place...but only because of the lazy culture and all the social / legal restrictions. Maybe I can stay here if I build a log cabin in Montana lol. Anyway I wish you the best with the grow room (I know you don't take pictures but a pic of the buds couldn't hurt!).

Hey Lady! I actually kinda like the rainy season. No tourists; a little more relaxed. In Costa Rica you get an Indian Summer in July or August so you can go to the beaches all day and there is no one there. It only get's bad here in Sept.-Nov. Stay in touch.

Here's a couple pics for ya...I'm hydro but I'm trying out some soil recipes a friend gave me. Plus a beneficial tea recipe. Seems to be working pretty well. I always do 10-15 soil plants in a room I have at my house. Saves me from having to drive all the way to my spot just to see some girls.

Don't worry guys. I'm having the troll problem taken care off. Haters there will always be. Just gotta rise above them and realize their jealousy is a sign of envy which is actually flattery.

I don't know if this is aimed at me; it follows my post. At the risk of stating the brutally obvious, you can see some pics of my plants in my sig. Sure looks like one square foot (literally) of my room outweighs your entire closet grow. If I'm jealous, it's because I simply don't have the skill to produce so little. lol

Of course you could post a plant that looks like it came out of the room illustrated in this thread - the BOMB grow spot - and that was grown my a pro with 10+ years expense (as you claim endlessly) and shut everyone up for good. Can we see one, please, with something in the pic for scale? A pic of a full-size plant, not a cropped shot. TIA

Your plants look great phillipchristian, a lot of nice colors there. Is that from the soil grow? Do you think it's harder to get a color change in dwc? that's what I am using, with beneficial bacteria as well.

Did you ever say what strains you run? I like the blue one in particular.

Thanks mufastaa. The first 2 are ChemDawg...day 75 in coco. The last 3 are a strain I got from a buddy called Sour Cheisel...day 66 in Sunshine #4 with worm castings and dolmite.

I really don't think it's any different to get plants to color out for you if you are in hydro. If anything I think it may be easier. I've never really thought about the subject. Good question. I've always believed that it is strain specific and can be maximized by having a 10-15 degree temperature drop at night. I was told a long time ago that colder nightime temps 60-65 degrees will activate the color changes in certain strains. It's always seemed to hold true in my experience.

Wow! Phillip you are my new hero! Ran across your water cooled grow room thread and you were nothing but help. Thanks! Now I find out you are living my dream in Costa Rica. Pura Vida! I spent a few weeks driving around that beautiful country 4 years ago and fell in love with the place. Had a gorgeous woman from The Beetle Bar in Jaco curl my toes and some of the best fishing in my life off the coast out of Golfito. Caught a sweet sailfish and tons of Dorado. I could drop everything here in a sec and live happily down there except for leaving my son. Three more years till he's 18 and I may head your way! Screw these haters! You have got it figured out bro.

Why would anyone grow indoors unless they had to? If you have so much land and are not worried about law enforcement, why wouldn't you just grow under the costa rican sun? Just wondering....

Haha! That's awesome man. What a small world. Many a soul has gotten lost in the back caverns of the Beetle Bar. Unfortunately I can't go in there anymore. Once you live here you really can't be seen in there cause this is a SMALL country. I still can sneak in if I have a client or friend in town. LOL. Once you've been here as long as me you find the local girls are a lot more fun; and cleaner too!! I don't spend much time in Jaco anymore. I have a place in Los Suenos and I kinda stick around there and Playa Herradura. Jaco is just SO shady nowadays. Always something going on. Little too much for my tastes. Every once and a blue moon I'l' get the itch and end up at a bar in Jaco.

That's amazing that you went fishing out of Golfito. What boat did you go on? I actually keep 1 of my boats in Golfito. I've built a couple spec homes in the American Zone. I ended up keeping one out by the airport cause I was fishing there so much. Some of my best days on the water have been out in front of the Gulfa Dulce. Where did you stay when you were there? Fish Hook, Banana Bay, Casa Roland? What a beautiful little town. If it wasn't so isolated I would probably live their instead of Manuel Antonio. Golfito is just a little too far "Off the Grid."

Way cool man. Stay in touch.

I've tried man...when I first moved down here I tried growing outside. Guys can do it up in Guanacaste (northern Costa Rica) for most of the year but where I live it's WAY too humid; hot; and too much rain. No matter what I did I always ended up with shitty yields and/or mold late in flower. Not to mention; you guys haven't seen bugs till you see the shit that comes out of the rainforest here. Spider mites? They are the least of your worries. I've sprayed plants outside with everything short of diesel fuel and these fuckers just look at you and laugh. Like you were adding salad dressing to the leaves or something.

Plus growing indoors allows me to do both hydro and soil and have complete control over the environment. I may have a ton of land but I also don't want to do it outside. I have other stuff going on at the farm besides that and there's no need to broadcast it. People here LOVE to talk about your business.

We actually stayed in the little village across the bay in a small fishing resort. I wanna say it was parrot bay resort. It had an alligator reserve on the property. Nice place ran by a couple retired from New York. They had a few 26' center console bay boats and awesome deck hands. I still can't get over how nice and happy every single person we met seemed. I guess if you are living in paradise not much to complain about. Jaco was a shady place for sure. I bet I was asked to buy coke 20 times in the two days we spent there. Scored a small baggie of local herb from one of the street venders there also. It was crap but did the trick. I will be going back to Costa Rica someday till then have an Imperial for me!

That's great man! Yea, I know those guys over at Parrot Bay. That's across the gulf in Puerto Jimenez. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself man. Come back and visit anytime. We'll get you out on something a little bigger than a 26' center console and get you hooked into something a LOT bigger than a sailfish. :-P

p.s. The last pic is for all you HATERS!!!

Hell yeah! Now you are just showing off! That's living the dream man! I got nothing but jealousy
:D...Showing off would be posting the underwater videos we shoot swimming with sharks, through baitballs; and with sailfish, marlin, and dorado on the lines. That is some sick shit. We just got into it a few years back. My buddy who I invited down to go fishing brought me a GoPro as a thank you gift. Now I have like 10 of those things. We spend more time in the water than we do fishing. It's a ton of fun. I'll see if I can edit some of the videos so my mug isn't all in them.
