Fruits cannot be sensimilla because they started as flowers and were pollinated.
Their sole purpose is to house seeds for animals to carry to other locations.

yep - fruits like watermelons and grapes are seedless but are grow from clones/cuttings. they are bred to be seedless and when they grow the proper fruit, the cloning begins. since the question is - how do you grow seedless fruit if the fruit has no seeds?!?

at least this is my limited understanding of the process.

I know they use chemicals to produce them that way also. Have you ever seen a real grape vine that was sprayed with plant hormones? The grapes are much more clustered together, like one big peice of fruit and they are much smaller. Most of the produce you see in a super market has either been genetically modified or sprayed with plant hormones. Bananas are all clones of one species, and they all have the same genetics. Unfortunately, due to selection, this will probably cause them to become extinct in the not so distant future. Wow...sry to change the subject.

They predict that the bananas that we eat in American produce (not the south american wild bananas) will become extinct, since there is not variation in their genes. No variation makes populations highly susceptible to diseases that could potentially wipe out the entire population. Plus, the bananas we eat don't produce viable offspring. As for wild bananas, like the sweet ones in south american countries, this does not apply.

yep - some folks have tried cross-breading them but i don't think it has worked as their genetics are too different but i'm not certain.

"It is possible to produce viable grafts between hops and hemp and it is reported that pollination of hops by hemp, annual nettle (Urtica urens) or perennial nettle (Urtica dioica) stimulates cone development, but only abortive embryos are produced."
