One Q, why do all the pros and about 95% of growers on here use HID lighting? Maybe they havn't discovered these great LEDs.Please stop embarrassing yourself already.
This is the first thing he had to say to me right after the post where I made my purchase. Now if I pranced on down to an HID subforum where the title clearly states the OP is investing in HID and said "Don't waste your money, LED grows frostier more quality buds than HID. HID's are a joke." How exactly do you think people would respond?dont waste your money,, you'll get fatter buds from CFL's. LED's are a joke.

If you want to put food on the table pay for car, mortgage etc then LEDs wont do the job. If you want to try out LEDs to see for yourself and treat growing only as a hobby then thats fine bro but people on here although they can seem like smartasses dont want to see you waste $250 on an inferior product.
Having grown with both hps and led, I can tell you that I prefer led. Many people use the same argument as you just did, if leds work then why don't more people use them in large grows. The reason is because they are scared. They've heard leds don't produce the same, or they've tried old inferior leds and were dissapointed. Add that to an expensive start up cost and you can see why successful hid growers are hesitant. For anyone looking into investing in leds, I suggest starting small to test the waters. If you want to replace 10x1000w hps for example, try just replacing one (or just buy a small led for a seperate trial grow) and see how you like it. I did it this way, strarted small and saw impressive results then started expanding my led stable. Once you get growing with leds down, the results in yield can match or exceed those of equivalent hps wattage. One Q, why do all the pros and about 95% of growers on here use HID lighting? Ah my friend, I appreciate the enthusiasm but I will be starting a thread as soon as I get the light! I will definitely point you in the right direction and leave a link on this thread afterwards! Thank you for the reply! That seems to be the right draw just joined but I'm tuned in for the rest of the show
(anyone got some popcorn?)
I appreciate the post, my friend. I must agree with you and also add that there are people who remain oblivious to indoor lighting beyond HPS/MH for the simple fact that they haven't been introduced to it. What do people fear most? What they don't know.Having grown with both hps and led, I can tell you that I prefer led. Glad to hear you'll be joining the party, friend! I must agree with you also! After 7 months, I have yet to find more than a handful of documented and successful LED grows. After my 7 month endeavor to find myself a light, LED fits my bill (electricity bill to be exact ) quite perfectly. Here on Hawaii island, we pay almost 4x the national average for electricity (44 cents to the national average of 11 cents) and that was what eventually sold me on LEDs.i think most people just have not seen good grows with leds...leds sucked 10 years ago and were a total waste of money...nowadays is a different story..leds have surpassed hids...i am taking the led plunge in the fall .... that and people who have money invested in hps and mh lights do not want to admit they need to upgrade their lights.
LEDs are expensive and filling up your desired wattage/light output can cost you a pretty penny. Thus, a supplemental light can save you money. Also, depending on types of light they put out, some need supplementing. Needless to say, supplemental lighting is a different facet entirely. People have their own reasons for supplemental lighting and I'm sure just because you buy LED, doesn't mean you need to buy supplemental lighting also. Then if they are so good ,why is it that every led grow i see there is always a bunch of supplemental lights used during flowering?
Not bashing it is a honest question.
temp , over colder months/places leds alone quite often dont produce enough heat for optimal conditions in the grow room/tent you can grow under alot higher temps with leds an the plants thrive same temps with hps would leave them burnt tired an stressedThen if they are so good ,why is it that every led grow i see there is always a bunch of supplemental lights used during flowering?
