Quick EC question for adding Ca/Mg to RO.

Hi Guys,

Please help me out here.

Everyone talks about adding teaspoons of Epsom Salts or CalMag to gallons of water but what I need to know is how much do I add to my RO water which has an EC 0.0? Does this level go up for flowing or should i always buffer the same? I have Ca, Mg and I also have liquid N ( all Canna Mononutrients).

So far I have been starting with Ca EC 0.15-0.2 and Mg 0.15-0.2 = EC 0.3 - 0.4 Bit less for my Mums and they look def.

Thanks a lot for ur help !! :)

o me me i use r/o filter water too lol well as u know i dont use much liquid nutrient anymore, but i can tell u a tip i picked up from the rev (skunk magazine's the rev) he uses general organics CaMg and adds a couple drops per gal of water, by drops i mean use something like a turkey baster, and squeeze it gently so u only get a couple drops out, literally drops like the size of a raindrop, i know he uses that during veg and bloom and it seems to work well for him, i dont think the rev is on RIU anymore but i chat with him on facebook all the time, if u have a FB account then look up therev revski (thas his fb profile name) and u can ask him any questions and he usually responds pretty quick, since i dont use Cal mag myself i cant really give ya anymore info than that, the rev also just released a book called True living organics : the ultimate guide to growing all-natural marijuana, just came out this year i havent even had a chance to read it yet, but i know from chattin with him that he does have almost a whole chapter in that book about liquid additives like cal mag, and he does use a r/o filter too

You would add the recommended amounts for your reservoir size. Running an r/o is no different than tap water other than the starting point. Why you should be using it is because r/o strips all minerals and you have to replenish. I increase my cal/mag 2nd week of flower then drop it completely about the 6th.

Your ec should not dictate how much to use, its the plants that will tell you

I use Cal/Mag into every feeding and was always taught to add 5ml per gallon when using R/O water.

Well guys !!!

Since i've been on this thread I've been using either pure RO or RO mix with tap water to bring it to EC 0.2. this is a good level to buffer the water without making it too hard. There is plenty of Ca in the water and some Mg so if anything i may get a Mg def in the future. If this happens I can add few drops of liquid Mg. The soil will buffer the water now. In hydro I had to think the other way round.
