alrighty. here's some pics of the culprits. don't look like mites to me. they are only on the bottom of the pots and seem to be in and out of the holes. not sure if they are in the soil or just hanging out on the bottoms. either way we did a 3 part eradication BOMB on them today. first, i dipped the pots in some diluted neem oil. let them soak it up for a few seconds. that neem oil was strong. maybe 2 fluid ounces per gallon. then i watered the soil on top with neem oil that was diluted to 1 fluid ounce per gallon. then after they dried out a little i sprayed the bottom of the pots with doktor doom spider mite knockout. if that's not enough then i don't know what else to do.

any ideas as to what they are guys?

will the neem oil do the trick? that's what i gave them today. plus the doktor doom on the bottom of the pots as well.

i think so, should deter them. the canola will help for mites in the future as well.

glad to help, are the leaves responding or have these predator mites only been there for a day or two? may want to check the bottoms of the leaves too, look for tiny dots.

no mites at all. i spray my leaves once every 2 weeks with neem oil. never had mite problems. just these little guys on the bottoms of the pots and 2 grasshoppers that were chomping on my leaves for a while a few months ago.

Do you have any gnats flying around? the flyers lay the eggs and the larvae feed on root matter. a neem flush like you did should help but if they linger, a more agressive alternatuve is Azamax. Rungus gnats have a tendench to linger, i've had them in my room for a cpl years. An ongoing battle that will probably never end for me. They are few and farbetween for me now thankfully.

Hot Shot pest strips work, as well as some sand or some perlite on the top inch or 2 of soil. they like the soil wet so the perlite and sand dry quickly and are not conducive for reproduction. maximizing the time between waterings should help too.

thanks shwag. really haven't seen anything flying around the room. a few thigs here and there but nothing persistant. plus i haven't seen anything on the top soil either. it could be from moisture for sure though because i've had to flush a few times with these plants in veg and haven't really been able to get on a good dry cycle yet. gonna get that under control in the near future though. we'll see how this works out for now.

hydro-oganics makes "go-gnats" its ceder oil, works great and cheap. just drench/flush with it and their gone..smells good too.

Very well could be. Azamax is the best general insect control in my experience. Its like neem on roids.

I notice like 4 ice boxes I think, 2 on lights and ....maybe it was one on the canister to cool air. I have one 8 inch ice box in a 8 by 5 room on a half horse chiller(supplemented with a wort chiller in a chest freezer) on a 1 kw light and water temp runs from 40 f to 70 f before lights off. I'm wondering how your 2 hp does on cooling and cost to run.

i'm running 2 8x8 tents on that chiller. i have 5 ice box in total, 2 water cooled co2 generators, and a reservoir coil as well. not running the res coil right now but when i was the 2hp handled it. basically i have an ice box on every hood (3 1000w lights) and 1 in each tent hooked up to a thermostat controller to act like an a/c. i live in a really warm climate and it's 95 here during the day. i have no problems keeping both tents cool and they are in the garage which is the warmest part of the house.

i don't have the specs on me right now but the chillking chillers run at about 10-15% less wattage than an a/c of hte same size. so basically my chiller draws less electricity than the average 2 ton a/c unit. the other thing is that my chiller probably runs 25-35% less than an a/c would. seriously man. the thing is on for like 5 mintues then off for like 15. and that's when it's hot out during the day. i keep the water temps at 58 degrees cause that is my dew point in the tents.

thanks db, it's not really as expensive as you think. the chiller was about $2500 plus anothr $500 in pumps, reservoir, propylene, and pvc. 2 a/c units would have run me about $1000 and cost me triple every month in electricity as opposed to the chiller. plus no need for intake or exhaust fans. got a new setup coming in a few weeks. scaling down to 4x8 tents and switching to 600w bulbs. stay tuned.

that sounds like a good plan. if you are getting humidity in your room from the ice box then something is off. are you getting condensation on your supply lines?

Was but I insulated them and its all good now. I don't have the condensate running back to the res , it just drains into a bucket in the room.
