NAMESTE. WELCOME FAMILY


Im starting this journal a little late but im still under 10 days so I figured i could just bring you all up to speed.


Im growing in a 2x4x5 (deepxwidextall) section of my closet. This is my initial grow and although I have attempted a thorough effort in research/study, planning and preparing before purchasing anything or beginning this endevor, I have nonetheless ran into ... umm lets say quite a few "learning experiances". lol.


To put a long story short and to bring you up to speed, i have ran into a very frustrating heat issue. Resulting in the death of 2 seedlings (blue cheese, sensi star) :'(


I germinated 4 seeds by wetting a washrag, folding my seeds up and putting it in a ziplock on top of my cable box. 3 days later they were all ready. i planted them all in soilless starter plugs and 3 out of 4 have risen above the soil. but as i said.. 2 of them didnt make it .. :'( My remaining plants are caramello and tangerine dream. my TD hasn't sprouted from the soil yet : / ..im actually a bit worried.


I will be growing under a 400w MH while my girls are "vegging". currently the babies are under (3) 24w (100w equiv.) daytime 5500k CFL's. As I've mentioned im growing under 12/12 from seed. BUT. As we all know, MJ will not flower until she is mature. So although im giving her 12/12 she will still "veg" for maybe 2-3 weeks before showing her sex. this is where i will be giving small doses of "veg" nutes and keeping bluer light on them.


Im growing in an ORGANIC PRO-MIX SOIL, using ROOT ORGANICS BUDDHA GROW and ROOT ORGANICS BUDDHA BLOOM for nutes. I understand this is NOT ideal or optimal in anyway. But im on a huge budget ATM, and for this being my first grow im not looking for professional results. Im looking to have a fun learning experience, and hopefully end up with something yummy to smoke on when im done


So before I start with the pictures... I just realised I have failed to mention that i had started a random bagseed 30 days ago. its doing very very well. he/she was around BEFORE i had gotten the MH so it grew the first 20 days on the CFL's alone and has suffered no heat stress. 12 inches currently and I will learn sex shortly, as i have started 12/12 as of 2 days ago. To be honest this is the true reason I am even growing the other 2 babies under 12/12 from seed. Because im actually being FORCED at the moment to induce flowering for my oldest plant, as I have under-estimated how much headroom i will have for her : / .i failed to factor the height of a 3 gal pot in the equation -__- (rookie mistake) LOL.


OK SO HERES THE SET-UP



Ive cordoned off a section of my closet for the grow using black sheets from and velcrow tape from walmart. Ive set up 2 ventilation fans. One on the ground in-taking 80 CFM. And one out the top as you see here pulling out 160 CFM. As of now i cant close the curtain with the lamp on or temps will get 90 degrees+ in there. Im currently saving for a DUCTED reflector so that I can get that hot air out more efficiently, hoping nullifying this issue. But as for the plants "night time" this set-up ensures no light leaks are getting in, as well as keeping it stealthy

Sorry for the light distortion in the images. I guess its that MH? But umm.. as we see the caramello is under the CFL's, i have the TD under a dome for humidity (i know the label says blue cheese) .. and then the older plant under the 400w. (bagseed, unknown sex atm)

So if anyone has put 2 and 2 together here.. YES i am going to be flowering that older plant under the MH for a while. I wanted to get another lamp but i JUST lost my job in the middle of this so thats gonna have to wait now. I have no other choice because of head room, other then to start the 12/12 now so .. im kinda screwed on that. BUT. i understand that although my yeild maybe slightly lighter, the blue light will give me JUST as much, IF NOT BETTER resin and total bud quality. But best case scenerio i can get an HPS system before her cycle is over. Im shooting to have the light before the babies are ready to flower for sure.

SO. I know this isnt very interesting... and ive written a freakin WALL OF TEXT here, but if anyone cares to stay tuned ill be updating with pics every weekend. Maybe even twice a week if it gets good

Lookin good man. Check your local classifieds online or craigslist. A friend just got a 600w mh hood and digital ballast for 120 bucks on craigslist. My temps get up to 88 some nights in my box but I have lots of air movement and ventilation and it hasnt been a problem. Good luck and I'm subbed

o wow. thanks for subbing up stone. i dont think my ladies will be as puuurty as yours came out but im hoping for the best! Ill definitely keep this thread updated.

BTW.. how late can i set up a screen for my girls if i decided i wanted to SCROG the 2 young plants .. if my TD even sprouts .cause if i find out in the next few days or so that my oldest plant is male .. he's getting the cut and then there will be no need to even 12/12 the young plants anymore so i may revert to 18/6 and attempt something like you had set up : )

I made my screens from clothes hangars and nylon string. Cheap and easy, just form to shape and duct tape em to your buckets. I have my screens about 7-8" between the bucket and my screens but ideal distance would probably be 9-12". I removed the screen from the double dutch cuz she split herself almost in half, no worries though she never missed a beat.

You can add a screen anytime during veg, just pick how high you want your screen and veg up to it. Like I said on my post I flipped when the apex tip was about 1-2 inches above the screen but should have filled the screen about 40%. I will try that on my next scrog and see cuz they do fill quite a bit during flower stretch.

Thanks J and J, she is an awesome dog, I got her from the local shelter and I'm not sure what breeds she has. Pit is evident but the rest is a mystery. She is the best dog I have ever had though, so mellow and well behaved.

THIS IS DAY 10 FOR MY FAVORITE GIRL. I TRULY HAVE MY HEART SET ON HER. I MEAN CHECK OUT THESE NUDES OF HER MOMMA



Shes gonna be one sexy lady for sure. shes already the prettiest little thing i ever saw! lol



ONE INCH. what do you guys think? small for 10 days from planting? (pre-germ) ... either way i dont give a shit lol! she is BEAUTIFUL. and she is around 70-80% sativa genetics btw. but evidently her indica was bred for speed and yield (of course) and has a high pheno rate flowering round 60-65 days. and im looking to see a dense fat ass cola form on her too. FAT TITTES.

a little piece of me is even looking forward to hearing the news that my other plant is male. because then im going to DEFINITELY give her a few more weeks in veg. BUT. i will say, i enthusiastically believe in the 12/12 from seed method. ive spent so many hours looking through 12/12 mega threads all over different forums. it definitely works. by works i mean consistent yields of 80+g harvest per plant are obtainable. off plants 2-3' tall. the thing is .. the margin for error is very limited for development using this method. vigorous growth is needed for these kinda yields. alot of experience with knowing the perfect conditions for growth and your set-up were recommended by the growers pulling these kind of results. ill throw ill link down if anyone is interested in checking out specifically who im talking about. but nonetheless, the average grower that can provide a decent regimen for the plant can still expect anywhere between 14-36g yields OR MORE. certain strains like (but not restricted to, or in all cases) sativa dominant strains are going to behave well under this cycle. but ive seen a batch of AK48 grown which is almost full indica all yielding over 36g per plant. imagine doing a SOG of that?? 12 week from seed harvest times????

but all that being said and true, there's nothing like a little veg. even just 3 weeks instead of the 2 its going to take you on 12/12 to reach maturity. and it will be on 18/6 instead so there will be even a little more growth for budding sites. so. im a proponent for that as well. we will see what happens and if this plant ends up showing me his ball sack or not. lmao.

so speaking of the other one here it is on DAY 30 (DAY 2 OF 12/12)



there's absolutely no signs of sex yet which is expected. so i didn't get any pictures up close of the branches. and even though i said i would enjoy vegging the other plant longer, what i really want is for this plant to be female OF COURSE. because in actuality this one is REALLY my first grow.. i started the feminized seeds about 10 days ago w caramello, but this i threw in a soil pellet given to me by a buddy and those 3 CFL's 30 days ago. no pre-germ either. so it would be nice to finish her out and see how i do : ) .. also ive read if she is female that i may be in for quite the pleasant surprise, and that alot of times bagseed produces some FINE ASS BUDS. WISH ME LUCK

and as for tangerine dream .. DAY 5 .. still isnt showing its head. im hoping its just a slow learner that the light is up HERE. lol. or um. that its even alive. lmao. so with that thought, i actually went and pulled out (w tweezers) most of the tiny amount of soil i placed over the hole in the starter plug. i was hoping that would get it going. and i am able to see it. it doesn't look the same as when i put it in there so i think we're good. lol. i didn't replace the soil over top do u think i should? i dont feel like it will be a problem. i actually think it will help. eh i think im hoping it will help. lmao.

thanks for the advice stone. SCROG'n definitely sounds like a lucrative way to grow. ill definitely have to experiment in the future. ideally tho, id like to try a micro SOG 12/12 grow with about 6-8 or maybe even 10 plants in there. that's really what i want to do and most likely will next time around. fucking job just fired me for some bullshit tho so few weeks back so i gotta get that figured out first. but everything is alright around here if your concerned. lol. ill hold over till i can find something else. plus i got these girls depending on me now ill find a way. LOOL.

OK, so im posting another update. Caramello is DAY 20. i believe she is looking well. DEFINITELY stunted in growth for being 20 days ... but i think this is due to my temps sitting between 88-93 during the day cycles .. but soon i will get a ducted reflector to stream that heat out much better and that should help alot. (right?) 1.5 in. at the moment. what do you think of it for 20 days? theres some slight nute burn/heat stress also but nothing that im afraid of. what do you think?


TANGERINE DREAM IS DEAD. dead as fuck. i fucking killed it somehow. it never sprouted. i think its the heat. ive been gettting the temps down more and more everyday just moving shit around and doing little shit, and then i bought a cool air mist humidifier yesterday and its helping alot. so i dont think in the future i will have such a high failure rate but 3 out of 4 dead? smh ..thats embarressing actually. but hey. you gotta learn.

AND. on to more bad news. im like .. 60-70% sure that my oldest plant is male ..its on day 11 of 12/12 and its beginning to pre-flower (slowly, due to the MH light) and more and more everyday the past 3 or 4 nights its been coming depressingly evident that it will sex male .. ive attempted to take pictures up close to some of the more evident nodes. tell me what you guys think. BTW this is DAY 40. 18 inches.



SO ... im going to give this oldest plant about 5-7 more days to fully confirm sex and then i believe i will be reverting the caramello plant to a correct photo-period to veg for another few weeks. how do you guys feel about me switching the light cycle up like that for her? too much stress? im going to SCROG the plant as well if i choose to induce the 18/6. so im gonna be looking at quite the long harvest period due to the early stunted growth, stress, and screening method. but im really confident it will be worth it. i have alot of faith in this plant. lol. i really feel like it will grow to be strong. and i truly CANT NOT wait to taste these buds. o man. btw .. can you take cuttings from plants that you are SCROGing? i hope so. i want to take a few when she's ready. im thinking maybe take some from the veggetation beneath the screen? or do these not make for strong clones?

RIU is still fucked up it looks like. I have seen clones taken from scrogs up to 35 days into flower. As a matter of fact I seen a thread where a guy only takes flowering clones for his scrog as they are prone to branch more. Any viable branch will work from top or bottom.

Ya the carmello looks to be takin a beating with the heat, but she should bounce back when the heat is under control. Try having a fan blow on it, that will reduce the direct heat if not the ambient heat. And I would flush and feed 1/4 str nutes.

How often are you watering? Do you do the scratch test b4 you water? Just take your finger and dig down a couple inches into the topsoil. If it feels dry, water it, if it is still moist a couple inches down wait a day and check again.

Today is DAY 25. fuck. it really sucks to say it but caramello turned out to be the only survivor . i started this thread with a 20 day old bagseed plant and 5 various femenizied seeds. one seed didnt even germinate. then i kill 3 out of 4 seedlings in the heat ... AND i had to get rid of my oldest plant cause it was freaking dude man. WTH.


so here are the final pictures of the oldest plant right before its quick and unfortunate death .. healthy. 40 days. 23 inches. would have been a beauty (5/11)


SO. now to focus on the only one still breathing. lmao. my caramello plant . DAY 25. still only 1.5 in. but she is looking 10x better due to the fact i have been getting my temps in my closet down to between 78-83 lately. i have confidence we will see a strong recovery and a healthy grow come out of this one. ive switched her back to a proper 18/6 photo period and intend on vegging for the next 20-30 days or so. im 70-80% sure ill be SCROG'n this plant but i just have to work the final plans out for that in my head here over the next few days. i just wanna look into a couple more SCROG journals for method and strategy before i begin. anyone know any good threads? would be greatly appreciated. either way .. here's some pics

5/18 - DAY 30

FUCK SHE WILL NOT GROW !!!!! WTFF ??? PLEASE HELP ME

i think i may have PERMANENTLY stressed/traumatized my plant with all that heat the first week or so. EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past 6 or 7 days my conditions have stayed SOLID at 40%-55% RH and 70-80 degrees. and although she is looking a little BETTER .. i really I want her to recover fully and to grow normally :' ( .. do you guys think she will? OPINIONS PLEASE. SUGGESTIONS TO HELP MAYBE? PLEASE. and there's also some relatively significant nute burn but i havent fed nutes in over a week. shes only needed watering once since then (last night). and when i watered i flushed pretty well to help try and dillute the nutes still in the soil.
