best reflector (if there is one)

I have been trying to get the best reflector for a 1000 w but I don't know where to start I don't know if they are all the same or what the differences are and why they are better or worse thanks in advance and plus rep for ur help

Well i cant tell you the best one by brand but i can tell you how to get the one that is best for your space... First how many plants are you squeezing in there. next how big of a footprint doesnt your light have to put off to cover all the space needed. The 3x3 big daddy reflector from HTG is probably gonna put off a 6x6 footprint maybe a little more. You can go with a smaller reflector if you dont need one that big. Some things to look for to point out a quality reflector. Pyrex glass that has a gasket seal on the hood, OPTIONAL flange locations ex. you can move it from inline cooled to smoke stack style, and see if the flanges have gaskets on there, the gaskets will trap the heat in the reflector so youll be pulling air more efficiently. i wouldnt go by brand i would go buy something that works for you and once you have a style that u want you can go with the brand you want

I have an air cooled hood that has a glass shield that covers the bulb so that the plants can't hit the bulb if allowed to grow that close to the hood. You can allow the plants to grow much closer to an air cooled hood when hooked up to a fan that keeps the temperature near the bulb much lower than other hoods. The main drawback from my hood is that the light footprint produced by the hood isn't that good, so I have a small space where the plants get the most amount of light. Some other hoods give off a larger footprint of intense light allowing for more plants get the maximum amount of light in your grow area. I'm growing in a closet so it doesn't matter and my hood is small enough to fit in there where as most other hoods where way tpo wide to fit in my closet. I don't even use my air cooled hood with a fan and ducting hooked up to it. Anyways I hope that this help you out a little bit. mostly depend's on penatration and of course as mentioned foot print, sog and scrog don't need a lot of penatration....30" plant's require more penatration at the start than sog or scrog need at the end! It's all about the flower my friend!...so size type of grow and yield are all consideration's! large reflector large foot print low penatration small reflector deep penatration small foot print! jackView attachment 2179193

I'm getting ready to move and I want to upgrade. space and amount of plants is tbd but I want the biggest footprint because I'm doing a soil scrog sorry so little detail with first post

two 1000W ehhh??? If I were you I would go with the biggest light footprint and one of the best hoods on the market.. The Raptor grow hood.

Luxor and raptor are very comparable ..good luck

just keep in mind the luxor is built to hang your bulb vertically and has a smaller footprint than some fo the bigger hoods like the blockbuster, raptor, xxxl, etc... plus, you may wanna check out the weight of the hoods. i think some of them are really heavy like the luxor. 25lbs+ if you are in a tent that could pose an issue. take a look at the final footprint of your actual plant area. no need to buy an oversizd hood if you don't need one. if you are trying to cover a 4x4 area or smaller with each light then any of the quality hoods will be fine. if you are trying to squeeze 5x5 or more out of the light then look into the oversized ones. also, check the lamp cord on the hood as well. some hoods come with hydrofarm cords and some with common cords. depending on your ballast you will need a specific type of lamp cord. personally, any of the sun system hoods are quality in my book.

I watched a video with Jorhes Cervantes (or whatever his name is) and he was saying that the most effective reflector was a double parabolic reflector with the bulb horizontally positioned. He was saying that it doesnt create hot spots and reflects light evenly. The Adjust-a-wing reflector is a perfect example of this type of reflector. Dont quote me im just relaying this info to you.

yea...jorge has some good newb info but most of his stuff is debateable. 2,000w in adjust a wing reflectors would create HUGE heat issues. most guys are trying to avoid that.

yea, that's a good one but you need to make sure your ballast has a hydrofarm style lamp cord.

Yeah Jorge is also a grower who would try and talk us 1000W growers into using 600W

I run thousands and I bought 2 xxl 6" hoods. There something like 36"x32" or something very nice foot print for thousands. I honestly wouldn't recommend anything else. I used to run the 19x26" hoods but the foot print isn't optimal for thousands seems better for 4-600's.
