Do these LED lights even work??

I was looking online because I NEED to purchase an LED pretty soon. I was just wondering if these first gen lights were even worth buying.

http://www.amazon.com/LEDwholesalers-2501MX-Square-Light-Panel/dp/B001MVWYZA

or should I buy something like this?

http://www.amazon.com/Lighthouse-Hydro-BlackStar-Light-Flowering/dp/B004E636HK/ref=sr_1_1?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1338556993&sr=1-1

Given the price I could buy 8 of the first one for the price of one of the second one.

Anyone got any expertise to tell me something I'm obviously missing here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The newer lights have higher efficiency and better spectrum so I'd stick with those. Stay away from the first link, 14w isn't going to be nearly enough for a meaningful grow. The Blackstar is okay, but I see mixed results with those and other cheaper units.

What's your budget/how much do you want to yield/how big is your room? I've seen good results with the current gen of Hydrogrow LEDs.

I really don't want to spend more than $300 and I'll probably flower 4-6 at a time with a space that is about 3'x3.5'

Hey Saintsrow,
If you only have 400 i would recommend HPS. Quality LED are expensive, you save money in the long run with them, but you need to pay upfront otherwise you will be disappointed. Once you run a few with HPS save your cash and by a Black Dog, but thats 1500. It took me a while to save up, but i am pretty happy with it.
