fox farm marine cuisine

does anyone use this? it seems like an interest alternative to buying fox farm soil. and is quiet cheaper. have read that you can mix a tbsp or tsp into a gallon of soil and will have the same nutrients as FFOF. just wondering how it has turned out. i plan on putting into a soiless mix of peat, verm, coir, perlite, and dolomite lime. does this sound like it would work fine?

It wont have the exact same composition, nutrient content or microbiology as bagged Ocean Forest does. OF is made from all natural ingredients and contains (among other things) sandy loam, forest humus and earthworm castings along with the ocean-derived meals.

The Marine Cuisine actually contains synthetic salts along with organic ingredients. I would go for one of the Happy Frog or Peace of Mind dry plant foods as far as Fox Farms goes (those include microbes). Otherwise an Espoma product like Bio-tone Starter Plus.

alright the happy frog looks good to me hopefully its at my local shop. thanks for the info Nullis!
i've been using the happy frog all purpose (5-5-5) for a while now with gardener's gold soil and it does an excellent job. i find the soil performs better with additional goodies like azomite and worm castings, and i'm currently cooking seabird guano into my next batch to see how that goes, but the happy frog is an excellent choice. i used it on my outdoor tomato garden last year and it was a hell of a crop. as an fyi peace of mind and happy frog are the same exact product in different packaging per fox farm customer service and website. it's just a marketing thing. apparently people balked at the happy frog being in a bag because they liked the way the box (peace of mind) displayed on the shelf, so ff offers both.

haha alright thanks ill check out the gardeners gold. Fox farm gave peace of mind to the people that were upset.

This fertilizer called healthy plant posted on twitter that they were giving away a free bag of their fertilizer to the first 50 people who email them so you should check that out i got a bag and so far its working really good.

Ok so a friend and I did a test with the Marine Cuisine.....We both used the same strain of seed from the same batch, and 5 gal buckets filled with Miracle Grow potting soil(yellow bag) and started them from seed outside in Socal. He used FF Marine mixed in the top layer and I didnt. His plants are about double the size of mine and we both use tap water and get the same amount of sun light a day. DOUBLE the size I said.... at week 4. I am a HARDCORE believer of the Marine Cuisine. Hope that helps.

It doz my heart good to see that others are turned on to Marine Cuisine (I thought I was the only one). I started a thread much like the OP's, many moons ago. Or maybe it was just a responce to someone, I don't remember exactely. Anyway, the whole topic of using a "Marine Cuisine Mix" as a resonable substitute for "Ocean Forest" died real quick, without too much attention.

I mix my own soil mix and then add Marine Cuisine along with two other (chicken manure based) "store bought" fertilizers: couldn't be happier! I keep telling myself that I ought to tinker with the formula a little, But I figure "Ifen it ain't broke - it don't need fixin'!" The bottom line is - I still swear by this stuff.

I bet you will never look back on ANY other type of soil my friend as it sounds like the one you make/mix yourself is the BOMB. Like I said....MG yellow bag and FF Marine Cuisine together equals Huge Happy Plants. Period. I do want to try the other stuff micadesgns adds in my next batch. He sounds like he's onto something!
