Growing as a Career?

I have been recently thinking very long and hard about the possibilty of growing marijuana and selling to dispenseries or who ever as a career. I love the growing process and am new to the site but not to growing. Can any one tell me if the have any sucess in this field of work. Maybe list how much you average a year/harvest?
 
depends on how much money you wanna make. clearing $70k a year after expenses can be done pretty easily out of a spare bedroom or garage if you can grow quality plants. i don't know anything about selling to dispensaries or mmj states so i really can't comment on that.
 
It's easy if you go about it the right way, it just doesn't guarantee success...But if you have a job, and can support yourself working full time, you can just have a grow on the side and work you ass off both working full time and growing full time as well. That way, if you fail bigtime, or can't sell your meds anywhere, you still have a job to fall back on.
Once you get the grow dialed in, and you're making more money than you would be working your regular job full time, you can quit your regular job and just grow.


If you can harvest 2 pounds of dank top shelf buds a month, you can pay your rent and utilities, and still end up with between 15-30K a year depending on overhead and quality. Gonna take up at least an entire bedroom in a house.

Okay, Now I know ScoobyDoobyDouchbag is going to have to comment stating that I have no idea what Im talking about. But here you go. I do about 14 cycles a year in a perpetual 24 plant cycle. I make about 35-40gs per year on it after overhead I also have a full time job. Honestly I can't give you the exact numbers on yeild because I do take special request to grow particular plants, some of which don't have the same yeild potential as others, I just charge more for those to make up some of the loss. In MI I have to stay away from dispensaries right now because they have been in a way outlawed but not completely, just dont want to get caught up in raid if it does happen. I take "donations" from my patients and other caregivers, I keep it all legal and clean. When they find a way to tax it I will be more than happy to pay them.

Also note that I charge less than most do in the field due to the fact that this is supposed to be non for profit in MI. I could make more if I wanted to but Again it needs to stay clean and as legal as possible.

i definitely didnt clear 70gs this year. it takes a minute to get going. people that think theyre going to kill it first shot and swing for the fences... well... i see there gear on craigslist.

for sure...i'm saying after you get your plants and room dialed in and your buyers setup. then again it depends a lot on where you live and who you sell to. i've heard some CRAZY cheap prices for dank in northern cali. not sure if it's true but i'm going based off east coast prices.
 
Cannot stress enough the importance of having a job/having money saved up to live off if you have never grown for profit before. It usually takes 2 or 3 cycles to get going in a new grow location, because there are always variables to take into consideration. Most professional growers will not guarantee results for the first couple harvests when moving to a new location, and that is because every location is different, and must be set up accordingly.

best advise hands down.. im on my 4th run and i feel like i just getting my shit dialed in. if i would of had a job up until at least after the first or second run, it would have made things alot less stressful. i started with around 15gs.. by the time the first one was coming down, i was eating top ramen.
i swore it would have been difficult to handle both jobs, but not as difficult as looking at bills you cant pay

First thing is to get away from cfl's and small 4, plant ops. Second is to get through your first grow, 2'nd, 3'rd, till you have enough experience that dispensaries would want your product.

Yes, it's true...SoCal too. You gotta have something real special to get decent prices...Or you gotta sit on it till demand creeps back up...
