Then again.... You are poor, you get half a thousand dollars a month, if you spend that money on reasonable stuff, you are still poor, you still can't get a job and you are still stuck in the same shitty situation you are always in, so why not get something that takes you away in your head for a few moments?

I agree that poor people buy stupid shit, but so do the middle class - scan any garage sale. If they had saved their money, if they hadn't put that stuff on their credit card then they might be better off - but likely as not the poor wouldn't be.

I have dated a few women on that get a link card...it is chump change ..like 200$ a month for food for them and their child..they work full time and pay rent, car note and contribute to society...I have no problem with kicking in for that..The 3 billion a day in the mid east is what pisses me off ..or the very wealthy farmers getting crop subsidies.

Hey if their neighbor or family wants to help them out then good for them. I shouldn't be FORCED to help them. And if you ever had any experience with these scummers you'd realize they spend it on junk food and garbage then complain when they get fat. Then because they're fat their "knees are bad" so they get to ride around in the disabled scooters.

Sniff.. I wanna ride around in the disabled scooters once in a while :sad:

I know I qualify. But the difference is: I don't NEED it.
I have this thing called "shame" that these people are lacking. I understand it tho. If big brother sent me a check every month i wouldn't give a shit either.

A simple step would be forcing them to stand in line for a couple hours to get their food instead of just sending them a check.

Or we can have social safety nets that protect people (which the GOP is trying to destroy). Or we can address the wealth disparity issue by taxing equally and no loopholes. Or we can cut back on billions upon billions in defense and reallocate that to infrastructure and job growth. We can even use some of that money for health care and health maintenance. Give tax credits to people who have lost weight or changed their lifestyle to a more healthy way of living. Allocate money to fund green energy. If we used a tiny portion of our defense fund and spent it for everyone to have solar power? We would solve a great deal of our energy problems. There are so many options to poverty. It takes cooperation and commitment. Bolster the education system and reward teachers rather than punish them. Education is a great defense against poverty.

I find it amazing how people who claim to be Christians and are adamant about what THE BIBLE SAYS tend to go ape shit the moment you start talking about caring for the impoverished, the sick, the vulnerable, and the elderly. IT'S SOCIALISM!

If Christ were to walk the earth today, he would be crucified by his own followers.

It's not the governments job to feed you. Or clothe you. Or provide you with healthcare.

That's every individual persons job.

Right. Which is called, "Paying Taxes". What do you want your tax dollars going towards? Killing for oil or for the U.S. recovery? Come on Patriot. What's your choice?
