need info on low stress training (LST) using autos - with pros and cons of experience

Thanks in advance

I LST my trainwreck, which isn't auto, but it has amazing results and I keep it small. I presume it would have the same results with an auto...

LSTing an auto is no different from LSTing a photo. If you know how to correctly LST it doesn't stress the plant out in the slightest. Not as complicated as you're making it out to be lol. Bend the plant in the desired direction and that's it.

To LST you just get some scotch tape and tape one of the leaves to the side of the pot if you're doing soil so it bends over, some of the leaves will break but who cares, the other will work beautifully.

tape one of the leafs to the pot? Doesn't sound like a good idea tbh.

Best bet is to get some of that plastic coated wire either from a garden centre or ebay, costs like 1 dollar for 2 rolls of the stuff. Attach the wire around a stem a gently pull it to one side and attach to the pot.

goodluck

If you have small plants in cups the tape method is fast and works well from what I've seen

Nah it works, if you don't mind losing the tips of the leaf. It's less invasive than using wires/string to tie stems down and you have less of a chance to snap, but you pretty much can only do the branches closest to the pot. That and it's much much quicker. Just tape the leaf to the pot and you're done. I've done it before with no problems.

Why the fuck do people say autos and photos... both plants use photosynthesis...

Also the tape method is STUPID! The only thing that is happening is you are giving more light to the inner plant and strengthening the fan leaf you are taping... THE BEST WAY TO LST is to take each upward stem that is coming out of the main stem and bend them outwards so they touch the sides of the pots. This will make these parts of the plant grow out and then up increasing bushiness by a shit load... You are also strengthening the stem of ever part you tie down. You can even tie your plant down towards the dirt and then pull the other stems out.

If you notice when you are stressing the stems they will be white after the first day where they are being pull down from at the beginning of the stem. The part that is being stressed, over the next few days will grow significantly in how fat the stem is.

This is the best way to LST and you can turn a ounce plant into a pound plant. Also if you top, then let it grow out about 4 inches, put in a tomato cage and spread the two tops out towards the sides. Doing this can increase the yeild by a shit load. This is the case with non autos. The one auto I have responded the same way as the other plants I have but I have yet to see its yield.

coz autos have a limited life whereas photos can be LST'd in veg till they reach the desired shape/size. The autos would bbe putting valuable life into strengthening stems....i know LST provides better light penetration later in life but was trying to get to the bottom of the issue. Seems everyone here is for LSTing autos so im gonna give it a go next round!

Omg photo period meaning it requires a change in light cycle to flower

Autos do it with age,has not a damn thing to do with hotosynthesis lol

If you don't mind losing the tips? Less Invasive? Much quicker?

Dude, come on. If somethings worth doing, its worth doing right...

Why not go and buy a bag of weed, its quicker and less hassle?

Because I can grow ounces of weed for the same price as a single ounce of weed? That's like saying "don't grow with CFLs because HIDs are better" Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. Did you watch the video? Plenty of people cut the tips off of leaves anything during flowering to open up space and help the lower nodes grow. What exactly is wrong with the method? Also I use the normal method of LSTing, but I've tried this method as well. I just didn't have scotch tape, only gorilla tape and I didn't want to waste it for that.

stop being a tight ass buddy and go and buy some plastic coated wire from the garden centre to LST with. Scotch tape is for wrapping presents not LSTing a plant.

Theres no problem with your method just your tools.

As for cutting off leaves to open up space thats just wrong, better to tuck the leaves out of the way. Leaves = Energy
