always sad when pets die...my cat died 2 years ago, i had her from 5 to 22...17 years she had a stroke one night and im guessing it made her blind...the rest of the day she didnt move around much, i had to run to the store in the afternoon and i told my step father to watch her an when i got back he told me she died....but when i went to pet her she started breathing again, opened her eyes and looked at me before shutting them the final time....i still cry when i think bout her, cuz it's like she fought it off to see me one more time, that was my homie, gotta pour out some friskies...

lost an old dog the year before that...he was bout 18ish we saved him from being put down when his original owner died, we had him for about 5 or 6 years, he was a great dog
....and now we have another old cat and 2 border collies... (one has hip-displacia pretty bad) that we're watching get old and i dread saying bye again because they're all such devoted friends...it sucks they have such short lives, but i try to make them happy throughout.

Pets really do something spiritual to us. They show us compassion and unconditional love which sometimes you dont even feel from your own mother. They are truly a gift to us. Its so funny how they have their own personalities and get so excited when you walk through the door. Like you are their god and what they have been waiting for their whole lives. I have lost 4 cats total and have to give away 6 kittens. I loved them all they were precious and I still think about them.

How can you not cry. I cried reading this post. Being human=crying. If you dont cry or show emotion it is not a good sign and you need to see me ( a counselor ).

one of my cats is a little black cat, voodoo, she is so cool. Everytime I smoke she comes meowing around. shoulda named her smokey

I teared last night when I read a post on this site. A couple drops of moisture form the eyes.

Then today my dog stopped eating, didn't chase the squirrel on our walk to coffee (very strange, cause he does that every morning) And when I was examining his poop and I saw blood in it. And his entire mood has just deteriorated into the shits. And there is blood coming from his anus. - SO i cryied.. a few times... pretty hard too.. I was alone in the car.. we were driving to the store... I think he has colitis.

I am taking him to the vet at 8am tomorrow.. I suspect I will cry again..

That will be 3 days in a row.

Gotta be some sort of record. "most consecutive days cried by a BAD ASS"

lol

Sorry Bro.. two thanksgivings ago I had to put down my BEST FRIEND. He was just about 14 yrs old he was a Black lab. Sammy was his name . He was the best dog a guy could have , He was getting old and I too noticed some blood , but it was in his urine . well I got that fixed and got another 4 yrs out of him.. But 2 weeks before he got real sick and I put him down , I was driving and came upon a black lab puppy running along a road , so I opened my vans door and in it jumped .. It was a female black lab about 6 months old .. So I brought her home and was going to find her a home when Sammy really started to go downhill.. well after a few days I decided that Sammy should not suffer and I put him down.. It was the hardest thing I ever did .. I cryed like a bitch before during and after . I have his ash's on my Tv with some pics and his collor .. I might add that if not for Chloe .(the puppy I found ) I would have been a total mess.. . So my advice is If It comes the time to . Put your friend down , getting another one right away less'ens the hurt .. Be strong bro .. My prayers are with you .. Peace

sorry for you I know it can be tough, I volunteer at an animal shelter and I care more about the lives of animals than I do people and of course I live in the middle of my own zoo. I hope the tide turns in your favor.

As a proud owner and lover of dogs,(have one border collie,a white lab,two min pins and a rat terrier)I feel for you.I can only hope to have a strong constitution whenever my babies ever start to go.So go ahead and have a good cry,I only hope to have someone to talk to when the time comes.

i wanna know what thread made you cry.
It's probably GK's thread, How Old Were You..? Panhead's post, pretty heavy shit.

GK, give your friend quality of life, and there will be a quality of death. It's a decision I've had to make many, many times in my life, it's an act I've had to commit more often than I know, I've lost count to tell you the truth. The issue is quality of life, no suffering, no pain. Give you friend that as best you can, let the rest happen because it's inevitable. The only way to prevent going through these things is to have no one and no thing in your life, and what a miserable existence that would be!

I have been vegetarian for years and spent some time as a vegan and all my friends used to joke I was gong to firebomb some lab and rescue all the animals, but I am not down for creating any more trouble in life. I guess the ideas and feelings just can come with the territory though, somebody has to speak for the ones who can;t speak for themselves.

Ask your vet for "med user ID"for your dog. That way you can legally medicate him(dog) with some high grade medicine. Probably in the form of ham with pot stuffing.
