Dave sez ...

"I think one of the most galvanizing moments in my life when these ideals finally precipitated in my mind was when Seamaiden and I toured Independence Hall in Philadelphia. I felt as if I was walking on hallowed ground. I felt a connection to the men that once occupied that Hall who believed in their convictions so dearly that they were willing to die for it. They were labeled terrorists by the Crown and were hunted by the British...yet they never wavered. As a result of the efforts of those men, we became a nation...and we never looked back."

You and Seamaiden are an asset to this forum, Dave.

Just thought I'd put that out there. :)

Thank you Vi. It's nice to be here.

dude mccain will not do anything in your interests just think of it like this
if you vote mccain, your life will be that much harder in terms of how the economoy is going to do, inflation, gas prices,
Ask your self this
do you want to pay 4.50 for gas?
do you want interest rates to keep being cut and thus making our money worthless via inflation?
do u want to be spending 42% of your budget on war for the next 4 years?

seriously
don't be a selfish dick.

sorry

UNLESS your worth over 10+ million dollars and are free from debt
then u have nothing to worry about:joint:
you are dumb as fuck

I wasnt trying to argue about the wasting your vote thing, in fact Ive been thinking about it, and waste probably isnt the best choice of words...how about, voting for ron paul is an act in futility, can we agree on that?
I will. :D I don't disagree with that assertion.
So while I definitely understand youre position, you are voting for who you think the best canidate is...I think I will use my vote , lets sayyyy.. more strategically, and vote for obama even though I agree with you that paul or kusinich wouldve been much better presidents.
Great in theory, and then you move on to the following, which demonstrated well how your vote may not even count if it's not the "right" vote. :?
What keeps sticking in my mind is the 2000 election, maybe if all the people that voted for nader, or wrote in Jello Biafra(my personal choice) voted for who they thought was better of gore and bush, bush wouldve never won and our country wouldve been alot different.
Do a search on voter fraud and the problems with vote counts we're having. It's eye-opening and honestly, butthole puckering. The problems with our current system have challenged ME to the very core. The problem is that I cannot get away from my upbringing, it's almost pathetic, I MUST VOTE, even if I know my vote may not be counted or may be disqualified.
Search on Diebold, Ohio, Florida, voter fraud, vote counts, election results. Exit polls are the most accurate means by which to get an idea of any candidate's standing, yet they don't match results. Huh?
Back to my question though...you dont have even a minute preference either way with mccain or obama? If you have to think of it as the gun to your head situation, what if they had the gun to seamaiden's head, would you let her eat the bullet? lol, sorry about the violent scenario, but you started it ;)
I would prefer Obama, even though he's proven that he's available to the highest bidder in Illinois. If he does it in Illinois, why won't he do it in the WH? He will. However, he's not cracked like McCain, who, maybe due to his own wartime experiences, feels few qualms about sending more and more of our young people to be maimed, and fewer qualms about borrowing from China to pay for it because, by his own admission, he knows nothing about economics (but knew enough to be one of the Keating Five).

Dear Seamaiden
Well, hallelujah maybe there is a scintilla of common sense in you. I was beginning to wonder if all you had was a disavowing of everything I post. Keep on thinking, maybe something positive will creep out. Yeah, thats right, Obama is the best choice of the three.

Dave I tried already to join the service but I am legally blind in one eye so cant pass the physical exame.Di you go to Iraq? Yeah Im waiting for the next round of republican in 4 years for a better choice like I would like to see Powell run but it wont happen. And Dave Ron Paul did say he smoked not that he would say he still does but his main running stand was for legalization of marijuana not fixing the econonmy or finishing the war or finding Osama or fixing the in house homeless situation or stopping the mexican influx of illegals so yeah what sane american would vote for him to be in charge..Know your country and its needs before you grapple with me.

Patently incorrect my friend.
Dave, you and I may have our differences, but we agree on one thing, McCain is the worst, and BTW, Filthy fletch is only running on one cylinder, And it misses every second beat, so take what he says with a grain of salt. I hope you don't align yourself with ViHole on this site as that would certainly jeopardise our relationship, HAHAHEHEHOHO~LOL~.

what have we become? we actually argue that voting for a scumbag is a "good thing" because we hate the other scumbags more? WTF?!?

McCain is the Biggest Piece of shit out there. Not to mention that he is older that Reagan was when he ran which leads me to believe that he would either Die in office or go senile.... Last thing we need is a toddering old man leading the country.

Choice is a good thing. Even when the choices are not what you may like, there is always a best of the three, Like what's behind door numbers 1-2-3. You look at the writing on the face of the doors and pick one. If one says continuation of the Bush regimes plans and 100 years of Iraqi occupation, a real propensity for starting a war with Iran, you may not want to open that door. The other two doors are pretty similar with very subtle differences, kind of an eeny-meeny-miney moe type of thing, but even then there is a best choice, and to this old warhorse, Obama wins hands down. Now I know, I really don't know what's behind that door, but I'll take my chances. After all, It certainly couldn't be worse than Dubyas reign.

you'll get no argument from me. only i would add the other two are also the "last thing we need... leading the country".

so now what do i do? I don't want any of them to be president. Should i "waste" my vote or not vote at all? and if casting a vote for a non-starter is a waste - how are we ever going to break away from the 2-party shell game?

No McCain would be Status Quo.... Which is a Big mess.

Edit-
I have no answer for you at this time, But I agree that there needs to be more than just a 2 party system. We need parties with Viable answers to the Problems that face us, Conservatives or Liberals don't have the answers, that is for certain.
Just because someone isn't conservative doesn't make them a Communist (as people like Vi Redd would lead you to belive) (and just because someone is conservative does not make them Fascist)
What this country needs is someone who is somewhere in the middle of the spectrum.

wanna bet? you make it sound like McCain would be worse....
Hell Ya, I'll take that bet. I guess it would depend on ones perspective. I mean if you are a die-hard Neo-con, than maybe Obama is not for you. But from my perspective, a dead dog would be better than Dubya. At least a dead dog could do no harm.
