If you seen what I started off with you'd be well proud of your set up loll

Loving your shelves - no grow room is complete without them ;) something I'm lacking distinctively currently...

How did you make your cool tube? - I was considering this, but then gave up and just bought one lol

My one critique - It's a positive negative, and in the spirit of Txchillies suggestion of suggesting something - you have the room to go much much bigger, and with your HPS you can grow some noice danky bitches!
Bigger pots will give you better yields. Even if you keep your plants trim and small, your buds will be massive and rock hard. Because the roots will be that much bigger, as will your trunks, ergo much more nutrient uptake ;) Something for you to think on there hehehe
I've seen it. It's true!

Otherwise lovin it mate :) Keep growing!

Hows things going Lady?

How many weeks/days are your tub girls now?
Hey BC, things are going pretty well :)

The seedlings are doing much better now that they've been transplanted from the Jiffy Starter mix. I posted some pics yesterday but they've been buried in a few pages of conversation hehe.

The Blueberry and skunk are just over two weeks old and the c99 and Big Bud #2 are just over one week. They are def small for their age...am pissed that I trusted the Jiffy seed starter mix. My first plants went way better. Also, I'm not sure if going 12/12 makes them smaller than usual? Here are some pics so you don't have to go through the pages:

After much thought and research I decided to go with a dimmable 400w mh/hps cooltube setup that I snagged for cheap off Ebay. Like you, I'm gonna run with the bulbs that came with it - even though they aren't that great - and upgrade to better bulbs later on. My first grow is gonna be Strawberry Cheesecake.

Edited to say thank you for the kind words regarding my mom. Lung Cancer is terrible but we're hoping that with the radiation and chemo, we can knock it into remission. We're not giving up yet!
That is awesome...we have the same setup :). I think we'll still be growing bigger buds with crap bulbs versus CFLs hehe. I still love my CFLs though! Am going to have the smaller vegging plants on the outskirts of the HID and will probably hang the 200w CFL there.

Cukes, thanks for the kind words. I used a bake -a - round to make my cool tube, along with 4" ducting.
As far as bigger pots goes, I only run 12/12 from seed, and when they're done the roots aren't really too bad.
With these size pots i can get 8 pots on the floor, with just a little room to spare.

I think going straight to 12/12 will make them smaller... If you have them on 24/7 or even 18/6 (which I've just started doing) for a week or two before hand they'll be getting that much more lumen power than just the 12 hrs per day.
I've been running my veggers for 24/7 the whole time and only last week decided that I should let them sleep - with the theory in mind, that children grow more when they sleep lol AND I seem to notice my bud growing more during it's sleep period. it seems to be working well too as they're responding positively. A more natural way, I think, recreating spring time. Whereas the flower box is autumn :)
The trouble is, you need a second space to have a different light schedule, so no sense trying if you have only one space...

One suggestion for you - I'm growing my seedlings out in my aero pot which you've seen - this is just on my kitchen side... you could do this too for a few weeks just to let them grow a little before flowering, if you don't have the second space that is :)

I want to get around to trying that Blueberry soon... I did some Blueberry Cheese and that was awesome! Prob my fave yield yet even. I'll be sticking around to see how blue they turn at end :)

Just did a fresh update too if you wanna check some more recent bud porn ;)

*phhhhiouuuu* draws in breath deeply*

8 pots! That's a lot of work for that lil 250!
One or two bin sized pots instead and you'll be drowned in bud lmao

Sounds incredibly delicious...what is the advertised THC content?
20-22% ;)

Yeah, but I purposely do the 12/12fs lol. it's not that I don't have the room. It's the fact that my plants are done in 10 weeks start to finish. I'm in the process of starting a perpetual grow. 2 new seedlings every 2 weeks.

I understand how the 20/4 or 24/0 works, i've done it. I prefer the faster, 1-2 oz. giant main cola

I don't mind if the 12/12 makes them smaller...as long as it isn't due to deficiency. The seedlings were yellowing right after their first set of true leaves...and when I transplanted, saw that there were tons of dry pockets in the starter mix after I had just watered. Pretty shitty mix. Realize that vegging them out would make them a little bigger, but then it's not 12/12 from seed! Was inspired by this thread by del66666: https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/416589-12-12-seed-thread.html. He has some pretty amazing results...with 12/12 the plants end up with one massive cola...he pulls 2-3 ounces on average from each plant in 7 liter pots and they measure between 24-32 inches. He averages around 11 weeks with some plants, seed to harvest.

I actually have three grow areas...the closet, sterilite bins, and now, a huge tent! I think I might shut the closet down...and use only the bins and tent..but then this thread becomes obsolete and I'll have to start yet another lol. Really no need for the closet anymore though...and it was pretty useful for storing much crap that I meticulously had to find a new home for, and ended up scattering around my apartment.

Hey Lady J - They are growing fast!

Here is a Macro of my Malawi for you:
Starting to look frosty Mo! How have the roots been doing??

Aye I hear ya.
I do lil ones too. I call them tasters lol
What ever space I have around the edges of my F box I try to fill with lil tasters... I've yet to see them finish under my 600w'er but I'm hoping for some whopper cola's too! lol
I had a mate years ago, that used to show my his cola-in-a-pot plants LoL and since then I've had a fascination with them.
My technique is slightly different to yours though, in that I take clones and flower them as soon as I see new foliar growth, keeping them in tiny pots to keep them low.

My last taster was big bud #1 - freebie from herbies - I got half ounce in a 3" pot, under 125w CFL. I was well chuffed :D

So basically the Sea-of-Green technique, but with seeds rather than clones :)

A highly successful technique if mastered for sure. I have this other mate ( I know a lot of growers LoL) who swears by this too, his difference is he uses auto's. I can't be arsed with them as they're not as strong, not as high yielding as photoperiods and all the pissing around with having to make seeds with rodelization and cordial silver solutions LoL Much easier to make a clone or twelve haha
I haven't tried a sea of green yet as I've still got my mind set on trying to go hydro and to get my ladies as big as possible. But I will try it one day. Maybe once I move house.... I don't know yet what the scene's gonna be like, shed-wise lol

Right now I'm torn between the two lol....maybe will do the 12/12 with only the CFLs in the bin...have 6.5 feet (almost 2 meters) to work with in the tent! Didn't realize how huge this thing is. Alright, I'm going to stop talking and take some pics :). Then I will stop by your update lol

Here's what I think, lady J...

Closet = veg space + nursery.
Tent = flowering space.

Get yaself an aero pot and a mother in a small pot, for your veg closet. Get her all noded up with some root booster and take a whole bunch of cuts... it's wicked fun and I know you'll love it!
You can still run a 2 weekly cycle, but with solid mature clones instead of costly seeds (good genetics aren't cheap!) PLUS you can take more than two cuts so you can choose the two bestest ones to flower :)
this may take you a month or two to get set up properly, growing out the mother, learning the cutting process etc. But it'll save you so much on seeds and you'll have the mantle of life in your very hands every time you grow fresh roots from a stick ;) How much more satisfying can that get! haha

Et voila! :)

ps, what ever happens don't give up the closet space! lolz

I think Del has inspired a lot of us. I discovered the 12/12 thread just after my failed first grow, (insert moment of silence here for the victims). I found Del's thread and fell in love with this method. I have yet to try any other. In just over a year and perhaps 5 staggered runs of 1-3 plants each run, I've gotten things pretty much dialed in. It has become "set it and forget it" growing.

Maybe someday I'll be able to unleash the obsession, but for the time being this method is a good fit for my lifestyle.

You've gotta love the ease of a perpetual grow with 12/12. My closet has the same dimensions as yours and I can't imagine a more efficient method in terms of time, energy, and effort. I also like that my plants top out at 24-28" with an acceptable yield.
