Reagan was the worst President ever

Reagan did two truly reprehensible things:
1) already as governor, he tore the heart out of the mental healthcare system. A massive failure of human compassion for an expensive, unproductive segment of society, and he saw them only as that. For the rest of us, it's a lesson in duplicitous ethics.
He went on to do same for the nation. Who knows how much the "savings" were compensated by higher police and medical costs for the wave of homeless nutters?

2) he made like a kid with a Mastercard with that deficit spending. He took the inspiration from those financiers who were buying and dismantling companies in order to raid the pension fund. For Ron, it was the SS fund, which he declared as "borrowable against". Oh such a bad idea, and we're in it to our necks as a result.
And I'll wager that he chuckled about the irony of it all right up until the day he died. cn
1) JFK started the whole dismantling of mental health care system.

2) That's FDR's fault, SS shouldn't even exist in the first place. That fucker was our Marx loving asshole.

So I guess Reagan was faking the whole Alzheimer's and dementia thing?

After FDR we had Truman and especially Eisenhower to undo the wartime deficit spending. Even Johnson that crazy old commie didn't deficit-spend. Carter did at the end, but with obvious distaste. Reagan was something special and very bad in this context. Bush senior perpetuated this madness. Clinton, for all his other flaws, worked to undo the deficit and work at debt containment. Obama's the first Dem president in our lifetimes to abandon this trend. So yes, Reagan drove this wedge. cn

<edit> Carter did run a deficit, I'm finding.

Totally agree! Jackson was responsible for the Trail of Tears and Hoover? Doesn't he have a town named after him? lol!

Perhaps you can give an example of Keynesian economics succeeding!
And while you're at it, will you explain why California's unemployment rate is one of the highest in the nation and why so many cities in this state are filing bankruptcy?
Can you explain why California if it is so bad is the worlds 8th largest economy by itself?

William Henry Harrison was our very best if one subscribes to a Hippocratic perspective of politics: he did the least harm. cn

And has a current budget deficit of 16 billion dollars! And has hundreds of billions of dollars in unfunded liabilities! Hooray for California.
" FAIR reports, is $21.8 billion annually. As FAIR concludes, the cost of illegals accounts for all of the budget deficits California and New York now face in 2011: “With many state budgets in deficit, policymakers have an obligation to look for ways to reduce the fiscal burden of illegal migration. California, facing a budget deficit of $14.4 billion in 2010-2011, is hit with an estimated $21.8 billion in annual expenditures on illegal aliens. New York’s $6.8 billion deficit is smaller than its $9.5 billion in yearly illegal alien costs.” Conclusion for these two states? Get rid of the illegals, the deficits disappear."

If you're so worried, why don't you come help enforce federal immigration laws.

Without California, the other 49(55 according to Obama) would starve. Hope you're a good grower because you'll only be left with a quarter of the current weed supply, too.

Your internet will be slower without our server farms.

Without our ports, you'll be getting tons of less goods.

I could go on. The only problem with California is the liberals and illegals raping our services. If California is so bad, why doesn't their own country provide the dream? Our state will be shit, along with the rest of the nation, unless this foreigner pitty syndrome and diversity garbage doesn't stop. We also need to return to our old production powerhouse days and stop buying disposable technology. I have Reagan's 30 year old CRT projector used to show his Star Wars project on, still works like new.

Reagan does not even come close to being worst ever.

Obama is not yet finished with his first term and has already driven us so far into debt that we will probably never recover, has continued the worst of Bush's anti-freedom initiatives, and is generally the worst narcissist in my memory.

All hail the One.

Reagan did not inherit an economy that was losing 700,000 jobs a month, 2 wars that were not paid for, and on the brink of a worldwide depression. Reagan also didnt have a congress that was openly opposing everything he did hoping he would fail. Yet if you compare both of them at the same point in their presidency Reagan was doing much worse with both unemployment AND percentage of borrowing numbers.

Things were pretty bad in 1980. The problems were different, but the sense of doom was similar. His "morning in America" message attracted millions. cn
