pool timer wiring

I dicided to start this thread cause I been using these pool timers to set up many a grow rooms for people I have not had and complaints and not one failiure yet... they are simple to hook up and have many of different wiring posibilities....

so for this example I am going to be helping a friend hook up his timer set @ 240v. my guess is most of you will be doing the same..

alright so the way I have this hooked up is I have a 220v plug for my lights and a 110v plug for my pump that both run on the load side of the timer.

1) we hook up the black and red power wires to the 2 TIMER terminals on the left..
2) hook up the 2 jumper wires from the TIMER terminals to the NO and NO2 (normaly open) terminals. that is the 4th and 7th terminal counting from the left..
3) I am going to hook up the 220v load wire going to my light recepticle... those are the black and red wires going to terminals 5 and 8 from the left they are labelled COM1 and COM2...
4) hook up the 110v load wire powering the other single recepticle to COM2 this is timed so it can be used for exhaust fans and or pumps...
5) to balance the load and to keep everything contained on one panel I hooked up a constant power wire out of the NO1 terminal and I use this 4plex to run air pumps circulating fans and other misc crap...
6) and for the final step take all your remaining white (Nuetral) wires and tie them all together with a wire nut.. do the same with all your ground wires and you are done with the timer hook up..

one important step when hooking up your 220v plug is you dont need a neutral wire so just cap it in the box and forget about it.

in this first pic you see my interval pump timer plugged into the 110v timmed recepticle.. I did this so that my flood and drain table only gets watered durring lights on...

also here is just one of the many boxes I built for friends.

yes sorry let me eddit that post.. after all the power wires are hooked up I just take all the white (N) wires and tie them all together... I do the same with all the ground wires..

yea man that is looking good bro.. so looks like you have your power in.
and (2) 220v timed wires on your load side for the light plug(s)
is that what your trying to do?

Yup, 2 220v timed wires, dont know if i will put in a 110v timed wire or not. still deciding if i want to use my 8 inch for exhausting with lights off, or if my ac will exhaust enough while lights are off. let me know your opinion on if i should add the 110v timed receptical for the 8 inch fan

well durring the lights off time you dont need to bring in fresh co2 and your ac will keep the humidity down so I would add the 110 timed.. one way you can wire this up so you dont need to bring another wire into the timer is chain the 2 light recepts together on just one wire and then you can use that other 12/3 for your 110v timed and your constant all you would have to do is move one of them wires either the black or red over to the NO terminal... the opposite of the 110v timmed so if your 110v timed is on the COM1 side than move the other wire over to the NO2 term..

no worries J, you got this.. you hooked it up just fine on your own for using just lights.. just back step now and look at the steps I wrote out for hooking up the 110 timmed wire and the constant..
you know what I was talking about when I said chain them 2 220 plugs together right.? the load wire comming out of the timer will go to the first plug and than you will jump another wire from it to the second plug..

I see it now, i was just confusing myself cause I had allready prewired my 110 outlets on the board while i was waiting on you to respond to my pm earlier today lol. now i see what your talking about.

i had my electrician cousin wire my room and install a 30A breaker dedicated to my grow room. im gonna have him build me a box now too... he owes me right now anyway.. i like the sealed up box u made for ur friend in the second pic

thanks frisco, yea I like them boxes cause they are cheap and can be removed and relocated super easy... im actually gonna be building another one for someone else in the next few days.. its starting to be my trademark I built so darn many of them.. $59 for the digital timer and $49 for the pin style.. the whole box can be put together for right about $100
