since i have all the right people here ....................................... my comp keeps blinking off. it's a toshiba laptop. it started about a week ago. when i walked away for awhile i would come back and it would be off. i thought it was my power savings settings so i changed them all to "never". it continued to happen. it's slowly progressed to doing it once a day to now when it's done it twice today already. it just goes blink and it's off. right in the middle of me doing something. i power up and everything is fine. it's just annoying. i ran all my clean up programs and backed up all my files. i think i got a bug.

it just did it again.

no porn. i only download music and a few video files. i've tried my best to keep this comp as clean as possible. i've had it about a year and a half with no issues. it just goes black. "BLINK." when i powered back up this time this message came up. i have since corrected it. error cutt.JPG

i cant fathom why a yahoo toolbar would cause something like that....

i say something is causing an error. missing data file. or not enough memory to perform a task so it resets itself....

Ooo.. fdd, get rid of that stuff, it's shit. It loads you up with spyware and just hella crap[/b].
I can't help but wonder, though, if your power supply might not be taking a crap on you. It could happen.

if it was a bad power supply....it just wouldnt come on.

normally when computers blink on and off and restart theirselves....its from faulty/bad memory (RAM)

i'm gonna say it real slow this time......... it ......... just ....... turns ......... off. i have to power it up manually. it's not restarting or blinking on and off. it just shuts off.

i have no idea how to get rid of stuff.:? that's why i try my best not to download it.

fdd, dont talk to me like im retarded or something.....

i saw it when you said it the first time.

my post was in reference to Seamaiden's comment/post

do you have anything on the computer you really want to save? i mean without being there and physically looking at the computer, i honestly couldnt tell you.

but if i were you....and couldnt figure it out....i'd just restore it. get a copy of windows and install over the old boot. dont choose new install....that will format your harddrive (well i wouldnt do it, unless you dont have anything you want to save)

I build pcs and you have several options for problem solving here.

1. Fan on the processor is not properly seated or failing,as soon as the processor gets to hot a lot of MBs will auto shut of.
This is the first thing that i would check if i were you, faulty processor fan.

2.If it was a power supply fault it probably would never start at all.

3.Check memory and processor are well seated in their slots.

4.Finally if none of that works i would remove the mb and all components to check to see if it was a faulty power switch.
This can easily happen if you have a soft touch power on button:blsmoke:

I have not read through the whole thread so this info may be useless to you lol:mrgreen::peace::joint:

Damn easy to clip on a new one yourself and save a load of cash.
If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself i will talk you through it if you wish.
Best of luck dude:blsmoke:
