No questions then? People are doing much better and I haven't had a single bad response so all is well. Let me know if I can help
View attachment 2251636Here is a corner of my grow, 120 plants under 2000w hps harvest in 43 days with this strain. All about the details.

I have really bushy plants.

Here are the facts.

4 weeks of vegging so far. FIMMED them a little over a week ago.
DWC with Botanicare nutes & root enhancer
under a 400 watt MH about a 16" above tops of plants
3x3x5 tent
6" fan tech centrifugal exhaust
2 clip on fans
1 store bought intake fan
water temp 75-80F (I know its high but have had no root issues, knock on wood)
room temp 73-80F

Here is a pic.

Want to know what I can do to get them to grow more upwards.

(I know fimming makes bushy plants but I only have so much space til they grow into each other)

PS Truly sorry for your lose. God bless.

If your plants are in the ground outside and you've done some good soil prep it's not going to make much of a difference unless you're on a well or something where your water is way the hell out of whack. I wouldn't waste my time. How many people that water with a hose are going to really make a difference? You should be fine, what's your ph running?
About 8.0, thanks for the response!

If they can put it in the form of a hug I'm all for it. Shortage of hugs in my life is taking a toll. :-)

Interesting time to FIM. Plants go up when they chase the light, generally the opposite problem most havve. Pull your lights up for a while and see if they'll chase the light. Why do you want tall plants?

Since the root ball is #3, what do you think about these root foods: AN's Voodoo Juice , H&G Root exelurator , Botanicare's ZHO, Humboldt's White widow, GH's Subculture
Also , have you experienced these air pruning pots?

Could be either or niether. Could just be a sapper. Do you have something against red stems? :-) You don't always have to do something about it. We have a tendency to over think our grows when we're starting out. Is the red stem creating a problem or is it just being red?
I have a redish stem. Is that a magnesium dif or a phosphorus dif?

Overkill. LESS IS MORE. Generally the only thing that grows bigger when using all those is the wallets of the manufactueres. when I grew the buds in the bowl in my avatar. there were three things on my shelf Botanicare Natures Blennd flower, hydroshield, ph down. That's it. KISS

What's up Professor. First off, I'm truly sorry for your loss. Secondly, I am new to the whole growing scene and am still in the process of planning my first grow. I've decided that I'm going to go with 4 plants in soil, with a 1000w Vertical light. I'm aiming for the largest yield (obviously) I can get with 4 plants and the space I have, (90" x 60"). I'm kind of stuck on what soil to use and what I need to mix in it to get started for veg, same question as to what soil and what to mix in it for flowering. Thanks for the help!

They are only about 8" tall and very bushy. So much that I need to dig into the plant to find sex (Still haven't found out sex).

It's not that I want tall plants, it's more that I would like to make sure all the plants get good light.

I'm worried that they are going to stay stumpy & the buds will be small & fat. I want big and fat :)

I was told to start using my HPS & this will help stretch. Would you say thats good advise?
Also,
Will they grow up once I get into flowering? Which I hope to start on the 11th.

Hey BigHerb, why the vertical bulb I wonder? I prefer horizontal. Your going to want vent your light and it'll be much easier horizontal. If you're going to use a single 1000w bulb and your just starting out from scratch here's what I'd do personally. If you haven't bought anything I might be able to save you some headaches and money. It would be great if you document the grow and I'll walk you thru it and we'll see how we do compared to the old school type growers. I am also assuming you're going with soil to save money on a hydro system which is fine. not really much other reason to go that route.

I would get a Magnum XXXL hood with an 8 inch venting hole. The hood is only 9 inches thick and still uses an 8 inch vent. Great venting capasity and a really wide throw with the light which will be great with the four plants. The buds came out of a 4'x4' closet with 2,000 watts so you have plenty of room. I would but a 1000w hps with a digital ballast, skip the hole vegging setup and the MH and that will save you a bunch of money right off the start. What strain are you going to grow? If you're looking for yield obviously a pure indica is what you want to grow. Half the time twice the yield, a good combination.

I would get your 1000w HPS and then take four five gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottom, put a couple inches of gravel or hydroton in the bottom. Get a good cactus blend soil from your grow store or nursery. Fill them up to within a couple inches from the top and wet it down to settle the soil then top it off. Plant your clones in the middle and get them going. If you have the money buy a 8 inch max fan and vent your hood. with good venting you should be able to have your light very close. Light management will really pay off, keep it as close as you can without burning and adjust daily.

I would get a five gallon bucket for your water. Botanicare Natures blend flower for soil. 5 oz's per five gallons of water, use that for your waterings. If you want to start with a little vegging nutes go for it. Here's where we're going to jump ship on the way most grow. Get your girls stablized in their new home and then use the fim technique on them. As soon as they take off again and are showing new growth we're going to put them into 36 hours of darkness and then straight into 12/12. YUP no vegging, your plants may be 8 inches tall, resist the temptation to "veg just a little more" waste of time. If you have a good pure indica your four little girls will turn into a half to a full pound(or more) of first rate smoke in 6 weeks. Most indoor growers are going to get 1 1/2 zips per plant after spending twice as long. You're going to smoke them in half time. Lets start there and I'll add to it tomorrow. I'm tired but I'll come back and answer any questions you have and answer the other questions folks have. been a long couple days.

From what I've read it seemed that having a vertical light with a fan blowing up at it would stay cooler. But I'll take your advice since you have waaaaay more experience than me lol. And yes, I was definitely going to go with a pure indica strain, I was leaning towards this; http://www.amsterdammarijuanaseeds.com/Medijuana - feminized-marijuana-seeds.php. Seems like a great strain to start with, says it yields well, and grow difficulty is easy-moderate. So you're saying to do 18/6 until they're 8" tall, then switch over to 12/12? I will also be starting from seeds, since I don't live in a marijuana friendly state. I should be buying everything to start within a couple weeks, just waiting for a buddy to pay me. And also, I was looking into super-cropping/F-I-Ming and that seems to do a lot, but I know I should wait until it gets to that step to get into detail. So this is the list of things that I have so far that I need;

Magnum XXXL 8" Vent Hood
8" Max Fan
1000w HPS Bulb
1000w Digital Ballast
De-Humidifier
Humidifier
A/C Unit (have it already)
Botanicare Natures Blend Flower
Cactus Blend Soil
Hydroton
Misc. Organic Nutes
Seeds

When I start I will definitely start a grow journal, just a matter of time haha. Thanks for taking the time to help out man, really appreciated!
