Grams per Day vs Grams per Watt

So you must be using a 250 watt light then.
no i use 600w lights

This I would like to see, 1 plant, 1 week veg under 100W light and you can get 100g; you do understand that it's almost 4oz right?

i use 600w lights, if i grow cheese i do 9 per light with a 7 day veg, if i do kush i do 16 per light with a 5 day veg. either way 8 weeks later i get over half a kilo per light without breaking a sweat.

i did a grow of critical + from dinafem and pulled over 1.5 grams per watt with less than two weeks veg time. vegging plants is ridiculous and every time you do it you are wasting time and money.

Although I agree you can achieve just as many g/watts with little veg time, vegging larger plants is not worthless. Total number of plants is always something to keep in mind, especially in non-compassionate states. And if you have it set up properly, you never have downtime. It's just a matter of preference whether you'd like to maintain a shitload of smaller plants, or fewer larger ones.

5 days + 8 weeks (56 days) = 61 days
500 grams (half kilo) / 61 days = 8.20 GPD

14 days + 56 days = 70 days
1.5 grams x 600 watts = 900 grams harvested
900 / 70 days = 12.86 GPD

If your records are right, you did better with the critical+ than the kush by over 4 grams for each day of the grow. That's enough to get lit on the difference daily.

Well think about this, how many grams are added in the last 3 weeks of flower, or to say it another way, what percentage of weight is added in the last 3 weeks of flower ? Cause without the last 3 weeks I would be screwed!!!

the critical+ IS DOG SHIT COMPARED TO THE KUSH.

if i had the choice of one oz of kush to smoke or one pound of critical i think it would be a very difficult decision.

Lucky, 9 plants here can get you almost 5 years under our new American style judicial system "Harper" has flung on us, and god forbid the count is 16 :o who knows what will happen :spew:

I do 4 plants under 600W, about 4 - 5 weeks veg, and 8 - 10 weeks flower and produce just about 1500g or ~3.5 lbs; Using Leonardos' formula for my last grow:

4.5 weeks (33 days) + 9 weeks (63 days) = 96 days
1500g / 96 days = 15.625 gpd

And my space is a 5' x 5' x 8' area. That's 200 ft[SUP]3[/SUP]

15.625 gpd / 200 ft[SUP]3[/SUP] = .078g ft[SUP]3[/SUP]/day

I agree that grams per watt is a useless measurement that means nothing to no one except braggers or folks that are trying to sound smart. If you want to see how efficient your lamp is or gage your setup based on yield, then you have to do grams per total watts used.
This will shut down the year long veg guys from bragging ;)

The goal for each grower is to achieve their best, given limited resources. Success of a grow should be determined my the limiting factor for the grower. For those with limited lighting grams/watt is a good measure. Grams per cubic foot makes sense for those with limited space. If the grow space and equipment is fixed, than grams per year makes sense.

How about grams per dollar invested? That would make sense for folks on a budget.

For me, time is the biggest concern-- the best measure is grams per hour spent working with the plants.

Measures don't work that well when comparing two different growers, unless they face the same constraints-- and grow the same genetics.

Quality (not quantity) is all that matters.

Show me a grower that can grow 150 grams of frosty 15% thc auto under 600 watts in two months and I'll show you a happily and perpetually stoned mofo

Nothing sux worse then growing shwag. I know what I am talking about. I have grown POUNDS of schwag weed (check out the posts about using acetone refine it).

Next gro, I think I got it right - I'm spending $$$ on high qual genetics (no more Nirvana bargain basement shitseeds) and keeping it to 12-18 plants with 1500 watts and (3.5 gal per pot) best soil and best temps and organic nutes.

Tell your quantity issue to the dealers in here, quantity does matter.

Yup good post, I did my whole grow with only great soil.. I got about 100 days in it now and I have trees,,, Only problem is they need a lot of water like 2 gal a day.. 10 gal pots. And seriously this is some great tasty meds.... I know everybody loves there own plants and they should, But growing Org The meds come out sweet and tasty with no burn... what so ever.. I love the Op way of realistically counting yield.. I won't be surprised if he does not make a app for calculating grows like this... LOL....

Why don't you just measure it as grams/watt/day? Then you will get how many grams, per watt you have, grow on average in one day. You don't just have to measure g/w or g/day or g/area, you can combine them into the same equation and get truely meaningful data.

For instance:
Lets say you pull 500g off of 1000watts in 100days total.
you would have a g/w/d of: .005grams of bud you grow on average, under 1w, in 1 day.

By itself this statistic is doesn't say much, however when compared to other samples of an identical statistic, the data has everything you need. Work/Energy Used/Time Required. What more could you ask for? And if you wanted, you could add area into the equation as well. And the best part about those combined equations, is that they have the best of both worlds (g/w, g/d), and none of the drawbacks (time not being taken into account, or energy not being taken into account; both are)

Of course the final quality is obviously a factor, but there is a reason that quantitative data is collected by serious gardeners, to make themselves better gardeners, and tune their gardens. Grams per Day is one tool that can help, along with proper records and education.
