hi
In an earlier thread I posted how I had nutrient burned my seedlings. this is the seeds Im talking about "http://www.feminisedseeds.co.uk/the-widow.html".

please read it will give you the bigger picture https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/555162-help-please-possible-nutrient-burn.html

It has been a few days, pics below
nuteburn.jpg

will this plant live, it is still standing proud. cost 10 bucks for the seed?

this pic is of a seed that has germinated and been sitting like this for 3 or 4 days now, in rockwool plug.

seed.jpg

this is the same strain as above. wil this seed sprout, or is it a dead loss. what u r looking at is not the seed just sitting on top of rockwool plug. I soaked it in a shot glass overnight, it had cracked, tap root coming out, I think its called tap root. it has made its way to the top, like u see now after a couple of days. now it seems stuck, unanimated ??

thanx in advance...

pics dont work

anyways if ther veyr young NO NUTES!!!! NOOB GROWER RULE NUMBER 1 RULE 2 IS HOLD OF ON THE WATER!!!!

they hardley need any water at this stage and definately no nutriants and dont give them it out the tap either,,well do just not straight away,,let it get to room temp first the cold can shock young plants

After seeing the pics and reading the other thread, my instinct is "they're hosed". Seedling 2 is just plain dead. Seedling 1 is almost so. I would flush every last trace of nute out of that rockwool. I would NOT use soda water ... it's acidic, and the CO2 will block the root from breathing.

Would you consider a soil rescue into "seedling" or similarly mild soil?

It's possible that the seedling might recover, but (and I hate to say so) chances are against. cn

I had a tough go of it going direct to hydro. I managed a soil rescue. In any case, I'm not a fan of rock wool. I'd try Oasis or some other pH-neutral medium that doesn't get as soggy. It's a nit to pick, but ... who knows. Small advantages add up. Best luck.

Oh and try a soil rescue on Ms. Scorchy there. If it fails, ~shrug~, but if it survives, ... cn

You don't need to soak the seeds overnight. A quick 5 min dunk is fine. If your planting it in soil, you also want to make sure you wet the soil really good and let it drain for a few minutes before sowing the seed. I usually poke a hole with my finger, drop the seed in, and pinch the soil closed. Then I'll follow it up with one or two quick sprays from a spray bottle set to mist.

I never heard of a "soil rescue" but I imagine they mean digging the seedling out of the soil and transplanting it into fresh medium. If your using pure coir or a seed starting mix like Fox Farm Light Warrior I can see this working, but there is big risk that you'll end up damaging the roots or stem in the process.

Don't feel bad. I drowned a whole flat of seedlings (40) a couple of years back.

I don't really have a "how to" ... I took the seedling (in my case from Hydroton) and gently "watered it in", in my case into Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. It lived and grew up into a lovely, stinky young lady. cn

You don't need to soak seeds at all. Put them 1/4" down in the dirt (direction doesn't matter either), cover them, water it once well and put a cfl or fluorescent tube within a couple inches of the top to keep it warm. Then just keep it moist. If the top starts to feel a little dry give it a shot of water... not fucking tonic water either wtf.. If them beans don't pop like that they aren't gonna pop at all.

I don't like watering after sowing, because it can push the seed to far down, but your right, you actually don't need to soak the seeds. I do because right after a quick soaking I like to roll the seed in myco inoculants then sow.

Once in a while I get a seed that doesn't pop by the fifth day. Rather then just ignore it and let it die, I like to at least attempt to save it, so I usually just pull the soil back making sure a clump of soil isn't stopping it from coming up.

thanks, I have ordered some good soil with added nutrients. I was asking about soda water because I thought it was carbonated. Someone once told me this was good for young plants. Hey, I asked b4 I tried, Im here to learn.

thanks and good luck with your further adventures
