Will I do time in the big house?

As my first post its a bit on the negative side. I have been reviewing this site for the past few months and have a decent understanding on all that is involved in yielding quality product on the down low. My question is one of great complexity and I'm sure a wide range of answers will be voiced. My question is supposing A person living in Southern California were to grow the amount of plants allowed under the city regulations with a medical card, while having one of course. NORML.org says 2-4 years for felony cultivation. What is realistic sentencing for someone growing the allowed amount and someone growing about 30 plants both with medical cards? I am 19 years old and want to turn a bedroom in an apt into a grow room. Would a squeaky clean college white boy really hit the big house for 2-4 years for 30 plants with a card?:blsmoke:

My understanding is you have to worry about the feds and not the State of Cali.
FEDERAL - NORML

My advice? Try to keep it under 60,000 plants:

The sentence of death can be carried out on a defendant who has been found guilty of manufacturing, importing or distributing a controlled substance if the act was committed as part of a continuing criminal enterprise – but only if the defendant is (1) the principal administrator, organizer, or leader of the enterprise or is one of several such principal administrators, organizers, or leaders, and (2) the quantity of the controlled substance is 60,000 kilograms or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of marijuana, or 60,000 or more marijuana plants, or the if the enterprise received more than $20 million in gross receipts during any 12-month period of its existence.

well sentencing guidelines are just that, guidelines. can't say, but if its 4 years max then that's the max. just prepare for that and hope that you get less. just because someone gets probation for doing what your doing doesn't mean you won't do more or less time. Always prepare for the worst and hope the best. Also if you have a record then that may not help either. even if its a juvy record.

well why would you go above your medical card limits?

if your not willing to do the time... dont do the crime

cliche but true!

How big is the risk? Do any cases get thrown out if the person is in compliance with their state laws? Is it insane for a young guy with a promising future to start growing? I have no criminal record.

Here is a tip, don't get caught. Don't tell people about your grow. If you have already, don't grow. Don't run 50000 watts of lights out of an apartment. Don't have the whole complex smell like dead skunks. Don't have your windows glowing at midnight when every other light is off. Dont have your apartment have a loud humming sound which bothers the neighbors. Don't carry hydroponics equipment in and out all the time. Don't piss off your neighers. Don't get noise complaints. Don't piss off your significant other. Etc. Then you wont have to worry about penalties.

Thats what I really wanted to hear. As of this point I have told 1 non family member, but he is my best friend for 6 years. I told my dad who is in law enforcement in another state. He joked about calling the DEA. haha He wouldn't though. I guess its just the old play it smart deal.

I can't wait to see judges throw out marijuana cases for the udder rediculousness of the charges and the sentencing.. just a few more years to let those old-foggies die off and the new kiddos come in.

If you have a card do the rest of the people who have them a favor by sticking to what you are allowed..When you or someone else like you gets busted for going so much over the gov is going to use those kind of cases to bann the program altogether.. If your condition is bad enough to need 30 plants then your too sick too even grow them..

Well, shit. If you have to keep it under 60,000 plants, it's hardly worth bothering.

Thank you to everybody. Do clones count as plants if they are in rock wool?
Yes,i cant remember the exact case but ive read where that arguement was tried & failed, each clone is a seperate plant, the only way to beat the plant count is to have several plants in a single pot & let the root mass combine.
