Lighting Question

I was thinking about getting a 400 watt MH light for veg in a 2x4 grow box and I already have a 1000 watt hps for flowering in another room. My question is whether this is enough light for veg to grow my plants just about 12 inches quickly. The situation is that I'm trying to get the fastest yield possible. I know that a lot of people say to wait for 8 weeks or whatever, but I am just going to wait long enough for it to get about 12 inches and makes sure that it has at least 4 or 5 nodes. I am not too concerned with cloning at this point. Thanks guys. If this is confusing let me know.:mrgreen:

I think 400 HPS would be perfect for for a 2'x4' space. The only issue that may arise is heat issues.

i believe my setup will be okay. i have it planned to have a nice blower sucking out as much of the hot air as needed, and another fan blowing in air. so i'm not too concerned about it, but i will think about it. i was really just wondering about the whole 400 watt mh for 8 plants in veg. I've looked all over the place but I figured it was time to just ask the question I had directly, thanks for the help. Appreciate it.:smile:

Damn sounds hot, both ways. I wish I had the space to utilize that light. Go for it. The only thing you can do is add a hps light to the veg. But that would be too much for what you got going on. The place would become way too hot.
Sounds great as is. Maybe an extra circ. fan.

I think this setup is going to be really nice once it's all done. Anyone know anything about small wall air conditioners? I can get one pretty cheap and just stick it in there.

sounds like a plan, i will keep it in mind though if it is really hot. i've found some really cheap units so i can consider once i know the temps. thanks for the help guys.
