Will any seed starting soil do? Something that isn't 60 bucks online? I really don't need 4 cubic feet of Sunshine Mix in my closet for years. Especially when I need about 2 plastic cups worth lol

Well this time I just put the seeds right in the ffof. So next time start them in a seed starter and transplant them into the ffof after a few weeks? Sounds easy enough. There has to be some organic seed starter at home depot or lowes that would do just as good a job of not burning my plants until transplant.

Just get the plain ol' MG potting soil from Depot, or Lowe's, maybe even Wal Mart.
Usually around 5 bucks for the big bag., 1.5 or 2 cu.ft. whatever.
I have my plants in it, veggies in it, and no problems.

Lol who told you that .You must use cfls or hps to veg and get visited by the stretch fairy.
dude his 3 week old plant has MAYBE 3 sets of leaves. you are retarded.

His plant was a bad seed or he stunted its growth by overwatering/compacting the soil.

I started my first grow with tap water left out for 48hrs, and my plants almost died because of soil lockout! I only use rainwater now, as my tap water is far to hard! Not everyones tap water is ok! Good luck!
Cheers!

Ok so I got my 4 way soil tester today and here are the results:

Light: about 7000 lumens per plant

Ph: a little under 7

Moisture: still a 3 out of 4 despite me not watering for about 4 days

Fertility: very little (which is good correct?)

So I'm guessing the culprit is over watering...

low fertility huh? so it was just the soggy bottom that caused that................interesting. looks so much like nute burn also.

Yeah I guess so. As soon as someone suggested overwatering I kinda felt like that was what I was guilty of.
