I normaly just only use promix in my pots, and i Feed by watering, im not suppose to mix amendments in soil right , ii can just add nuts to water.
is it nessary to mix anything in pro mix befor you use it.

Premier Tech Pro BX? If so it has everything but soil really. Macros, micros, beneficial mycorrizhae for kick ass root growth. Do you need soil?

Tell Moebius I sent you. Get excited for a bit. Seriously. Pot on the cheap and easy. And extra perlite and/or vermiculite like suggested above is always good. Better aeration, better drainage, it holds your nutes in kind of a time release design.

i only pot pro mix bx in the pot . no other soil. Is this normal.

I use the Pro mix straight out of the bag and I add a bottle of Osmocote, a bag of bat guano, and mix it all well in two clean garbage cans and plant in it. The Osmokote is slow release and non burning and I dont fertilize any more during veg. I start adding nutes for flower only and have some real nice grows. I use this mix indoors and outdoors .

I want to add everything to the water i use is this just as effective as adding additives in the soil, Straight pro mx bx, and i put everything in pic in water according to directions. Is it just prefrence ?

You definitely go that route Bethany420. However it's much more work in my opinion. Soil additives will make your life much easier.
I'm not aware of anything that can be added to water though to improve drainage.
Dolomite gets mixed into the soil at 1tbs per gallon of soil.
Perlite I use 25% extra in my Pro-mix HP and helps wonders with drainage.
EWC are bonus as HP and BX have no real additives to them to begin with.

Beth, When you use straight Pro Mix BX by its self and add the fertilizer or "nutrients" to the water this is essentially "soil-less" growing or hydroponics so to speak. This is because the Promix is essentially an inert (no nutrient value) medium similar to straight perlite. When you add amendments to the Promix like compost (worm castings, cow manure, mushroom, lobster, chicken, yard), meals (bone, blood, feather, kelp, alfalfa, crab etc.) gaunos (bat, sea bird), minerals (azomite, soft rock phosphates, sul po mag, oyster shells, lime greensand) you are now growing in a soil mix. If all the amendments are properly adjusted you can water with plain old tap water and not add anything to the H2O as far as macro nutrients (NPK) go. So to recap straight Promix Bx is soil-less and Promix Bx with all the proper amendments is soil growing (examples: Roots Organic, Fox Farm OF, Coast of Main, Vital Earth etc). This is a broad definition of both types of growing media and each has many different approaches and nutrient recipes. I would also not recommend adding lime to the BX, it is already in there. I will offer one more piece of advice and with it I will be opening up a huge debate but here we go. If you plan on using bottled nutrients don't be fooled by these product lines that offer 4-10 different bottles of crap for your grow cycle. There are many great economically superior products that are over looked because they aren't flashy and over marketed. But as everyone will agree (LOL) organic TLO soil growing is superior in every aspect of fruit production. My $.02 worth.

i use promix, sunshine mix, or any growing mix like that (usually comes from canada) right out of the bag and add nothing except water and foxfarm nutes. maybe i would add other stuff like extra lime if i was going to be growing in that same soiless mix for longer than 3 to 4 months.
maybe next year i will add some perlite and lime to a couple of pots and see if it adds any benfeit for me.

ok thanks , Im really pick about my bud and I want the best taste with decent quanity. and curently i am unhappy with both, so im questioning everything i do , knowing that i just use just soilless mix in my pot , i was wondering if i am using an acceptable nut line or combination of stuff , I use the stuff in the pics i dont always use the bio marine or the see weed stuff cuz im not sure they even do anything those are my veg nuts and the other pic i have never used the bat guano but i thought maby the the npk rating would fill in the gaps where i think the bio thrive lacks , it was a free bag of shit , use it or no. and are these nuts im using capable of producing medical grade pot??????

The General Organics complete line was disappointing. You are missing the Black Forest (humic supplement). I hate the fact that they portray it is an organic product when in reality it is simply the same as all the other chemical products. If you like the chemicals go with Dyna Grow and Bloom lineup way cheaper and better results. If it were me I favor the true living organic (TLO) approach. here is a great recipe.
1 3.8 cf bag of Pro Mix BX or HP
1 cf of compost (earth worm castings, thermo compost)
.5 cf of perlite, coco shells, pumice or rice hulls
6 cups of Espoma brand bio tone starter plus
3 cups alfalfa meal
3 cups kelp meal
3 cups crab meal (Neptune harvest)
2 cups of a 50/50 mix of Neem cake and Karanja cake (neemsource.com) This stuff is amazing but expensive.
Minerals as follows 1 cups of soft rock phosphate (or brown rock), 1 cup of crushed oyster shells, 1 cup gypsum 3/4 cup of sul po mag, 1 cup of azomite
Mix it thoroughly on a large tarp or cement mixer.
Let it "cook" or rest for 1 month before using. This is a water only True living organic soil. It will still need the occasional AACT tea and a dose of humic and fulvic acid to feed the microbial life but other than that it's a no brainer medium. No more worries and it will most likely be the best grow you have ever produced. It is a little more work/labor to do organics but nothing great ever comes easy.

thank you so much , how long can i store my compost for and when i bake the compost in the sun im going to put it in a garbage can should i leave the top on or leave top open???

I'm not sure of the "expiration date" on compost. I'm sure it will be viable for a very long time after it has broken down properly and yes leave the lid cracked for good air exchange I might even drill holes in the other end as well. I gotta tell you that making compost is a topic in itself, and can be discussed for pages. An upfront warning, organic growing will quickly become an obsession. There are so many different projects to do with organics like making your own worm castings in a homemade worm bin, brewing active aerated compost teas, making your compost pile maybe even making Bokashi compost. There is great organic reading material on Grasscity.com look for writings from a guy named LumperDawgz he is an organic Guru, you will find no one on any of these forums with as much organic (cannabis and non cannabis) knowledge. Also pay attention to Wetdog, MiWolverine, Oldpork, Corto Malteze, jerry111165, and Microbeman these guys will blow your mind with their knowledge and when treated with respect they will answer any question you may have.

thank you so much cant weight to make my super soil compost i found a good recipe for super soil on high times mixing ocean forest and light warrior and a bunch of other stuff hopefully it will produce that grade med im after.
You will still need to add the lime and some more perlite, but what you want to do will be fine.
I make my own mix. Same peat moss as pro mix (Premier) and have been using this since 1972. Like pro mix+++.
For 35 years+ I only used Jack's Classic, only getting into organics in the last 4 or so years. The mix has worked well with either the chems or organics.
BTW, Jack's is designed to be used with a limed mix and tap water. Makes things REAL simple.

Hey Wet,
Ive been noticing your posts on here quite a bit. U, and a few others are what pushed me to get the Jacks Duo. I have RO water and I have been using sunshine #4 but didnt amend it. This time i will be adding amendments to counteract the Cal Mag def i got. As i have both, would you recommend Lime or Oyster shell Flour? or both? What is your beefed up mix? and how long do you let it sit before using it? Sorry for all the question, its like im relearning how to grow, the smarter and more economical way.
