i only like to get high myself, so stony kushes and other afghani doms don't impress me either. i'll just tell you my personal favorites and compare differences in strains that get you high.
my #1 fave is TGA's jack's cleaner 2. it's a 9 week strain with genuine trippiness and visuals! it does have a stony body thump, but not a full on KO. it totally compensates for that with a warm and fuzzy full body euphoria that's REALLY "touchy feely". i started laughing like a mofo when i noticed that i was imagining invisible ripples of tie dye color emanating from where i was massaging my arms and chest just because it felt good. it not that light floaty feeling you'd get from real columbian gold, but it's very distinctive "feel good" weed. i DESPISE getting stoned mind you. JC2 is upbeat, just a bit heavy. his jack the ripper is even more highly regarded and probably trippier and racier. i can't deal with the name, but JC2 is nice enough. i'm eager to try the third dimension too. TGA strains in general are much loved
my second favorite strain is DNA's sweet haze. it's stretchy and lower yielding like an IBL, but it's also a 9 week strain and the best fruity haze i've ever had so far. it's extra fruity with crazy sticky, and wet if mold is an issue, buds that unlike generic hazes, has real psychoactivity too. DNA strains have top to bottom quality in all 3 i've tried. skunk #1 is too boring and stony to impress me, but their lemon skunk loses the stone and is more motivational and euphoric, along the lines of a clear headed watered down generic haze with a nicer lemongrass taste and a really sexy golden color that compliments the flavor unlike "1 dimensional" strains like whites that are harsh and flavorless at the expense of as much resin as possible. it's a fast flowering strain too. even their sour cream which has a moderate stone much like a skunk #1 or blueberry is impressive as it has a crazy delicious cream cheese flavor with hints of sweet fruit. the buzz would be considered above average in an area with nothing but stony cash crapper strains, but the flavor is off the charts! it's better tasting than blueberry to me, though it's too stony for my tastes. if i were to grow a stoner bud for variety, it'd be that one or MAYBE my tart cherry SOMA buddha's sister. i haven't tried that one yet. SC has some odor, but it's not too bad. i got by without a scrubber with that and 4 little masterkush autos.
high quality seeds haze x skunk is like an AK-47 for sativas. it's a $28 cheap strain that really gets you high. it has a less than appealing cheesy cigar wrapper flavor (awesome if you like blunts) from the 12.5% afghani still in it, but unlike even pure (?) columbian gold, you never get worse than lead eye even after a full month of constant blazing. it's a 12 week strain and a little stretchy, but it would respond well to SCROGging and LST. it has a cool "single bud ever couple inches" pattern perfect for scrogging. the buzz is very strong and long lasting to the point you still feel it the next day. it has some trippiness, but isn't as visual as gold, but it's way stickier and potent. it's surprisingly smooth too for it's potency. i don't remember woofing once in it though once i got my 1st taste of it's high, i blazed a deeper 3rd & 4th hit that did trigger light visuals along with that room spinning nausea thing, but not as bad as i've had on gold. after that, i respected it's limits better. very motivational! i lost 10 pounds in a month on it ignoring my hunger and quit my 6 pack of red dog a night habit cold turkey too. by the time i ran out of it smoking a lot every day, it had built up in my system so i had a 24/7 light high with traces of low grade nausea that were easy to tune out by keeping busy. if it wasn't a toxic buildup, it was from hunger, but it felt similar to the room spinning kind, just way milder. i wouldn't want to blaze it 24/7, but if you want a potent old school high, it delivers!
mandala's 8 miles high won't return 'till next year, but it's a great buzz at the other end of the spectrum. it's much mellower and friendlier, much like a generic haze, but with it's own personality. it's energy profile was perfectly neutral... no stone at all, but no raciness either, just a nice happy playful vibe that's 24/7 friendly. you can do activities on it, but you can chill out to music and movies too. similar to gold's light & floaty high, it offers precise body control. it loves music and dancing and i felt like i'd been doing the robot my whole life when i started goofing around on it. it's much more noob friendly than haze skunk with close to the same level of trippiness. i just think of it as a goldilocks strain that does everything just right. it doesn't have any intense "WOW!" factors other than a fun happy high, but it doesn't do anything wrong either. i might pick that as a desert island strain. his satori is supposed to be way nicer. not a fan of that name either, but it and ace's bhangi haze are one high flier here's top 2 faves so it can't be shabby. 8MH is very nice in it's own right for sure.
you can't get joey weed C99 or A11 anymore, but those are two great jack hybrids that take no more than 55 days. cindy is more clearheaded and racy like something between a generic haze and just try and sit still on it kali mist while apollo is a mellower trippier offspring. C99 is a nice contrast strain, especially if you want something for activities and work, but it isn't as mellow or trippy for chilling out like JC2 or sweet haze. it's a 1 dimensional buzz that's all about keeping busy and not getting stupid. i'd go more for apollo i'm sure. it's trippier and easier to chill on. both strains are in and out of the market and in a lot of crosses like TGA jillybean and A13. C99 in particular leans towards low odor.
if you want a moderately stony but functional, but nice and potent fast finishing jack hybrid that's cash cropper style, CH9's jack isn't shabby. it looks like a little indica, but isn't skunky at all. i liked sweet haze and JC2 more, but it surprised me as i was prepared to hate it when it looked like an indy. i'm going to test it again for a clearer picture. i think it's best trait is potency. it makes huge seeds too. i'm also going to test their jack 33 as that one is supposed to be extra euphoric and i'm hoping above average too.
sannie's gear is supposed to be great across the board. i've heard that their hideously named killing fields is no joke in the trippy haze department much like JTR. i have my eye on much nicer named jack f7 as it's supposed to be one of the best herers in the world. i want to put it up against JC2, the third dimension, jack, critical jack and others to see if it's my new fave. their chocolate rain is popular too, but i think i'd get DNA chocolope before that as it doesn't have blueberry in it and should be less stony hopefully.
that's the best of the best that i've tried so far. i ONLY grow for quality, so i don't stress over yield and how fast a plant finishes. if all you have around is OGs, then i guarantee you'll surprise your peeps with almost everything here. strains that get you high are very hard to come by on the streets as you know. that's about all i grow.
