Talent is in the eye of the beholder. Just these days it seems as if most people's vision is blurry.

To me to be considered a talented singer, if u can't make it sound good with an old guitar and just your voice, then u have no talent. All the voice modifiers and "Hollywood" they put into music these days could of made Rosanne a singing phenomenon. Its more about your crowd appeal than it is your voice. Sometimes something as simple as smoking pot on stage will entertain.
 
But your music should have some type of content to go along with a voice instead of the very generic love/money songs that are constantly being blasted these days

She can sing well and plays the piano well. She can dance too.

How is that not talent?

If she is not talented then write a better song than she has, play it on the piano and post it.

The fact she uses

1) Abstract sounds in place of words, an odd sort of onomatopoeic mantra that is now iconic amongst listeners
2) The subject of a girl knowing a guy is no good for her and reveling in it rather than a guy singing about it
3) New fantastical musical instruments
4) Her real vocals live
5) her own costume design

Makes her stand out from the cookie-cutter crap record labels are churning out these days.

I always thought Poker Face was a cleverly written piece under the surface... specially if you hear her sing the acoustic version.

If you posted the lyrics to anything by Queen you'd see how simplistic their lyrics are too- very similar in style actually. Hmm... Radio Gaga!

Really, I think you guys hate her because it's just a s'cool' to hate her as it is to like her. I'm not even a huge fan (I prefer hard rock, metal, nu metal, punk, dubstep, drum n bass, folk rock and a bit of indie) but I feel the need to defend this woman because she does actually have alot of talent and creativity.

I don't know what you've been listening to but her music is far from generic content-wise. Who writes a song about getting a phone call in a club and it turning into a prison-set Thriller-scaled epic dance number?
 
I find her to be very bizarre, her music just annoys me. It's the way she acts, looking at her confuses me lol ok it's one thing to have a stage appearance, which is fun but she takes it to a whole new level, humble is very attractive, she is neither.

She's not the prettiest girl in the world. The costumes are fantasy and a front, but she doesn't lie to anyone about it.

She's actually pretty humble... lacks self-confidence. She regularly breaks down and discloses to interviewers how badly she was bullied when she was younger. She also spends alot of her time thanking and encouraging er fans and making campaigns against hate crime and bullying.


But I don't like most of her music admittedly. (not my genre) I would love to hear her do more acoustic renditions and lose some of the flamboyance some of the time for contrast.

I totally understand though- she's an easy one to hate because she's a big, famous, brightly-colored target and I used to despise the woman until I actually learned a bit more about her. I don't go crazy for her songs but at least she can sing.
 
if you don't get it thats fine, but there are millions and millions of people who do. i appreciate her and her accomplishments. she is quite young after all and one of the most powerful women in the music industry. i even named my first hermie after her :eyesmoke:

It is funny you think there wasn't any shitty music around the time of the Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Check the pop charts, big guy.
The Beatles and Led Zeppelin had huge marketing budgets and "schemes." Apparently you have no idea how the entertainment business works.
Are the Who sellouts? They have sold a lot of their songs for commercials and tv shows. They have marketing schemes.

How many of her songs have you listened to? I have only listened to a couple and found her to be quite talented.
I am not a fan, but she is definitely talented.

Can you come up with something better than the teletubbies reference? Because it doesn't make sense.
