My first grow. (Stealth pc)

I will try to post my progress every week.

Sadly I can't post pics via this iPad :/ I'll try to find a camera so I can post via computer.

So, I've been lurking in the shadows of RIT for about a month now. I have spent almost every waking minute of the day researching how to grow this lovely green plant. (Remember, a weed is anything a gardener DOESN'T want in the garden, this includes trees, daffodils, and other silly things.)

After all my extensive research, and over a hundred hours of forum reading (no joke), I decided to grow my own little stash. I had an old pc case (atx I believe) that's about 2 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and about a foot deep. Now, I know this isn't optimal but its what I had at the moment. I had a savings bond that was worth a hundred bucks and spent it on soil, lights, the works.

My setup is a powerstrip attacked via 2 screws to the back of the PC case. I wanted them horizontal because I read that Cfls emit light from the sides. I had planned for 6 Cfls on a 6 outlet powerstrip, utilizing the use of y splitters for bulbs. I have 4 in there since the depth of the case doesn't allow the bulbs AND splitters. Awe well at least if I get serious I have them there. I'm doing 12/12 from seed so the lights are for flowering. (2700k)

I found a couple of plant pots my great grandmother had in her storage closet. I heated up my homemade hot knife (a soldering iron with its tip hammered flat :D) and made four holes on the bottom for drainage. Only two fit in my case so I did it to two. I plan on having two plants per pot, I don't want them that big, maybe a foot at most. (Again, this is just my first grow so its a trial, I know if I want good quality bud I need one plant per pot as to avoid tangling roots)

I read two different ways to germinate seeds, so I decided to do both the glass of water and the paper towel methods. The water defn had the seed open faster than the paper towel method, but they wouldn't spurt out any further, so I put them all in with my paper towel ones, which had longer "tongues" than the water ones. (Btw, it's just random bagseed so idk what strains I'm working with.)

The soil I'm using is a combo of FF Happy Frog and FFOF. I bought it off of eBay so I'm not sure if there's perlite in it or not but it drains well. I'm too poor for nutes so I don't have any, hoping the natural stuff in Fox Farms will do justice.

I also don't have a ph tester, so I'm using tap water. I let it sit for 24 hours so the chlorine in it can evaporate.

Days 1-5

About 2 days after planting, one of my babies (Angelica) (i hope its a girl) sprouted :D I was so excited I kept checking up on her every 5 mins as told by the First Grow Bible (lol) I watered around her because I want her roots to reach for it. I only planted one seed in this pot because her seed had a nice long tail going. Didn't want her competing at all.

On day 5 (yesterday) I was looking at my other pot, no seedling sprouted (I planted like 6 lol) so as I was thinking about chucking the seeds, I see something in the other pot. As I look at my beautiful, healthy girl, I see another seedling sprouting at the edge! I don't even remember planting another seed but low and behold, there's a seedling lol. I'm just gunna work with it. As for the other pot, I chucked the seeds and germinated more.

Day 6

Just planted 2 other seeds today in the empty pot. I can already see the growth from my first node on Angelica and the first node leaves on the surprise sapling. (Still haven't named it yet lol) they had their second watering today, just plain ol tap water. They are growing up so fast :)

Hopefully by next week I can post pics. Thanks for reading guys

:joint:

TL;DR: first grow up and running, seems good so far

I run one per pot. If you get a male the roots are all tangled. Don't yank..transplant if you have room. I know you have a small space.

Yea, I'm trying to convert a little section of the closet so I can have a third plant. And I will try and transplant sometime this week. They are still small so I'm not worried about accidentally messing up the roots

Definitely 1 per pot. I won't assume anything, but I didn't read what was under the pot(s) to catch run-off. Also how big are the pots? MJ roots grow like crazy! Learn a lot and have fun!!

It's just a trial run, not expecting anything over 3 grams per plant. Expecting a low yield but trying to get as high as I can, if one plant per pot yields more than multiple plants per pot, then I'll do it

as for run off, I water over my sink, should I not do this?

and the pots are about 1x1/2 (in feet) dunno how much they hold :/

I have a plastic pan under each in case I misjudge. I try not to overwater so there is no standing water...wouldn't want root rot. Some guys will drill a few small holes a couple inces from the bottom to help avoid rot. I'd chalk it up to experimentation. +rep for doing homework before you started. Many start, never read, and end up asking a lot of basic questions that many of us who are more patient don't mind answering, but it does get old :)

Lol oh I know, I read forums from the first page on. Never just went I to a forum and shot a question that was already answered. I know how you guys must feel because I would get pissed just reading the same question over and over again lol. Also I just left my two plants together, I guess it was meant to be cuz I only planted one seed In that pot, guess it slipped out of the towel in the process?

Hopefully in about 4 months, I can get a better setup going and get a perpetual. But for a trial run, I can see what happens to it first hand. Maybe I'll do some plant abuse just to see what happens (although I'm not excited about it, I hate plant abuse) just wanna know what everything looks like firsthand

three grams is shit, ahahah theres no point in even trying if you want three grams, you can easily get 3 ozs if you research and spend a bit of money, nothing more than $400 for a setup that will easily let you yield anywhere from 1 oz to 1 pound per plant depending on how many plants, veg time, training etc etc

and theres no need for a tent in a closet, just either paint the walls white, or line em with black plastic. easy peasy lemon squeasy

3 grams is like 2 joints. If you are growing for 2-3 months, you should get at least an ounce a plant. If not, you did something seriously wrong.

Yes but sadly I do not have the funds. Only had a hundred bucks on me since I was laid off. Spent it on a little set up for me. The next time I grow I'll buy nutes and do it right.

The reasons why I'm expecting such a low yield is:
a) no nutes
b) no ph testing system
c) first time growing
D) I'll be pleasantly surprised when its more :)

dont want to shovel out money for a crappy yield. I wanna get accustomed to the plant before I lavish them with gifts. ;)

No nutes = dead plant
no ph = maybe dead plant

Why the hell did you spend ANY money on a grow. If you have no job, you shouldnt be wasting what little you have on weed.

Lol I figured let it do its natural course, only indoors. I hoped the fox farms soil nutes would hold off til I got a job. Shouldn't be too long now. :)

gotta stay positive, plus I'm too stoned to think of it as a bad idea. :D
