36hrs drying smells like cut grass/tea [total newbie here]

its my first time drying buds when i harvested her it reeked like stinky orange peels
but after 36hrs hanging they smell like cut grass/tea its only been a day and a half since i cut them RH is 60% temp is 25C have a small fan blowing to the wall not directly on buds but when i touch them they still smell like orange peels with a bit of skunkyness lol
the buds got lighter and spongier just a bit dry on the outside i can feel theyre still moist and soft and the stems just bend but dont snap
did i F it up? worried much the strain is JH auto

lol, dried mine for about two weeks then jared it for another two weeks then, it smelled right.

its not too late toss them bad boys in a jar and just begin a cure (more opening the jar because their wetter) but its not too late

edit: if they feel real wet after first several hours/day leave em out and repeat

Its totally normal for them to smell like chlorophyll a day and a half after hanging. Just let em dry nice n slow and the smell will come back.

Hey, I know my post count isnt up there like a lot of these guys telling you its all good. Ive had more harvests than posts, and I have to say that when you harvest early your pot will smell like hay. Or it is just bad genetics. There is nothing you can do to get rid of the smell/taste. You can make it smell like better hay maybe. Dont take it as a loss, take it as a lesson, make sure your buds are ripe. My bud smells dank growing, after the chop, after the manicure, after drying, and after the cure.

my buds are 30% amber i think the lower buds are almost all cloudy with some amber. i used microscopes

Dont worry about what kgp is saying. Yes some strains smell good the whole time, but there will always be that green smell after chopping. If he really had 73+ harvests he wouldnt tell you that stuff. Many fully mature quite danky strains go through the green smelling stage. If you keep them drying slow that will pass though.

thanks! it was my 1st harvest so i was quite worried ima let her hang for a couple of days as the buds are quite moist still *cross fingers*

I do a slow dry where I go between a plastic bin ($5 at home depot) and big mason jars every 12 hours. It takes about two weeks to get ready for the cure but the buds get a nice slow dry and smell the balls. They don't get a chance to smell like hay. IMO once they start to smell like hay they're drying too fast. For you it's time to jar them for 12 hours. Basically alternate between jar and bin at 12 hours a pop in each and do that until RH is right.
I use a hygrometer and the first thing I do is figure out a baseline RH for the EMPTY jar. Last time that was an RH of 64% in the empty jar. I therefore was satisfied with an RH of 67% for the buds and I put them away for 6 weeks in a big mason jar. After 6 weeks I do a transfer into smaller jars. After four weeks in the smaller jars I'll give everything a sniff just to make sure everything is cool. At this point you can put the jars away for even longer term storage.

How do I know? Because I've been there and done that. I've grown my fair share of pot that smells anything but good.

Ha ha. What do you mean chill? I'm in know way excited or ranting. This is a forum to share opinions ans knwledge right? Well that's what I'm doing. We shall wait on this topic and see why op says. If the weed doesn't smel good after the magical cure you all speak of, the I guess I am correct. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. We will see as long as op gives us an update in time.
