He didn't "commit" the US military to a war, and that is very key, he kept military engagement minimal. Even the Iraq and A-Stan troop surges were included in Dubya's status of forces agreements.

If we would have never allowed the fed to get big enough to feel the need to start aid then we could walk away from any deficit with out fear.
