I was always told it was because they were allies with Germany and thought they could crush the US military by hurting their Air Force, they wanted to be and thought they were the superior race, same as the Nazis.

Surely, it couldn't be because of the economic sanctions we placed on them. I'm certain they shrugged those off... Japan didn't just attack us because it would be fun.

Again, you post without any actual demonstration of knowledge. The Japanese attacked us, but a small island such as Japan knew they could not win. Please feel free to explain why you hold they would pick a fight with a militarily neutral country that could destroy them with one group of the US armed forces (USMC), with only the navy for support. There was no tactical reason for Japan to attack in WW2, America was not involved in the war at that point. Had they stayed in China, we would have left Japan be. Occam's razor dictates there must be more to it, from what I can see. Even your link indicates that our sanctions in the US were a root cause of Pearl Harbor.

you and I live in an imperialistic nation, our wealth comes from theft and rape of sovereign nations. Are you comfortable with that?

Yeah sorry, I use another forum and always forget how active this one can get lol.

It was to you tho, About your above post. It was always said that it was because they wanted to hurt our biggest military base so that they could have a better chance, plus the Japenese was teamed up with Germany so they thought they did have a chance. We also always have allies during every war so that helped us alot too, even if we did do alot of the damage. Getting slightly off topic here but they did give us a hard time because of their reluctance so they did put up quite a fight. The main thing that was taught tho was they did it so them and Germany would have a better chance winning over the world and they didn't want us getting in their way.

If you honestly believe a country that couldn't man a 2 front war (Russia and Europe), could support Japan at the same time; while they fought China, you have a disturbing lack of any clue of reasonable tactics.

When you factor in our embargoes on resources, you can see how we pushed them into attacking us.

That wasn't the main question, you specifically asked what did we go in there for, not what has happened after. We went in to help basically, can you imagine how much of imperialistic nation the whole half of the world would have been of we never went over there? Then since they would own all those resources, after a few years or even a decade after they would target for our land because they basically wanted to rule the world, are you saying we should have never went over there in Germany because of what happened after?

They seemed to be doing a pretty good job taking over with Japan when you look at the maps.

It's amazing how good you can be at kicking ass when it prevents your country from fading away. Not to mention, that Germany didn't have an "Asiacorps" or the equivalent. (I was making a play off the Afrikakorps.)
