:wall: ok so my girlfriend packed away my old bong in the back of the closet(still full of water not clean dirty as hell) and the resin is rock hard... I have tried rock salt and 70% isopropyl but that didnt work and it normally does... I also tried to just SCRAPE the hell out of it but that didn't work either? Any suggestions? I thought maybe just smoke out of it for a few days but the perk is kinda clogged(not bad) and hardish to hit+it doesn't taste that good...

You need to soften it 1st by running VERY hot water thru it for a bit. I boil my water and then slowly pour it thru to soften the resin. Then try the alcohol soak. It always works for me, even on my dirtiest smoking apparatus.
  • The aerosol oven cleaner are toxic chemicals so if used, make sure you triple clean afterward!

I have tried everything and nothing has worked - used boiling water yesterday, used alcohol and salt after, used the oven cleaner just now and really washed it out after still there though - got about half the downstem clean though

7o % iso isn't the best stuff to use honestly as a lot of it is water... try and get a higher percentage iso or oven cleaner like cn mentioned.. :D

70% is what is in the house, I will be getting 99% to make some oil on friday but I will try that as well. The oven cleaner worked for part but I had to carve it out(it was mushy instead of hard)

Lol CN So I should ask the guy I know that uses it for his trimming machine? I'll check if I have any TY - best way to clean tht shit out afterwards? Good shake?
There are two kinds ... the safer "fume-free" and the stronger "original". I use a DIY variant on the original ... isopropanol plus caustic, sourced as liquid drain opener. Ethanol (denatured is fine) works a bit better actually; it's a better solvent for the alkali, which is the real cleaning principle.

I'd give the "fume free" a shot first (blue can if major brand) because it is a strong solvent that should work well on built-up resin.
And I'd also give SSHZ's warning a thought. While I don't consider the chems involved to be seriously toxic, a thorough water wash will leave you with squeaky-clean glass and no worries about residue. They clean food prep equipment with it, after all. cn

My cousin has a big glass pipe that he puts in a gallon ziploc with a little 90% alc for short bursts in the microwave.Sounds crazy but it works.Ive cleaned my pipe this way,but it never gets that dirty:).Maybe carefully poke at it with a wooden skewer too help loosen that hard shit.good luck.peace

It's a 2 foot bong I can't exactly fit it in a gallon bag, or my microwave...
