Small

I've been trying to grow a little seedling i have for a few weeks now. (21 days) and it has seriously grown maybe 6" tall.. wondering on what could be causing this, ive heard soil temperatures can slow growth down so i checked and i would assume 65F would be fine so i dont think thats it, i only have a small little light on it right now, 19w LED...I would think this is why it has such limited growth, can someone support that theory or maybe add a few more reasons why 20 days of growing ends up to be a small skinny plant, about 6 inches tall its only got the stem the seed leaves and 4 little leaves on it.

Help me out!

Dump the ebay LED and at least pick up some decent CFL's or a 2 tube T5 unit.

Pics?

Have been on the go to get the cfls going, doing 2, maybe 4 23w, 1600 lumens each, would 2 23w`s be ok for a plant to grow though, equals out to be like 5400k with 2

tbh I'm a HID user so wait for someone to respond who is a CFL user.

If it was me I wouldn't want those little cfl jobbies as you will need a few and it will up the heat. Look out for a simple t5 shop light or lightwave unit. Much better IMO.

im way up north anyway my friend maybe less heat is a good thing for some but not me at this time in the year. thanks for your opinion though happy growing !

CFL USERS! I know most people use 4 23w`s a plant or at least thats what ive seen most on here but i have limited space so i think going with 2 would be ok i would just like to know if i only use 2 what am i going to switch to 12-12 with for flowering? 1 23w 2700k 1600 lumen cfl wont do the job would it???

I have to ask...how did you arrive at the decision to grow a plant without doing more research? The firdt thing you need to do is ask questions before you buy equipment. Also, why the small budget where you aren't going to get decent results?

Believe me, I'm being gentle. At least go to a hardware store and get "Y" splitters so you can run 4 decent sized veg CFL and then switch to 4 decent size flowering CFL. What type of ventilation will you be using and odor control? Limited space?? Please give the dimensions.
Learn a lot, have fun, and good luck.

2 23w cfl will see u ok for a few weeks, but once the plant gets big enough you'll need the other two for the top or side lighting. When u go to flower you'll need at least a 100w per plant, even with that you won't yield much. I'm a good bit up north too and even with the cold weather 4 cfls will build up a good bit of heat in a small space. I suggest u look into an exhaust of some sort.

So Im getting 3 Y's and having 4 23w' cfls on them, on a 20-4 cycle, temperature wise I think ill be ok, (outdoor shed) but humidity i have no idea not sure on how important it is for them but getting some info on that would help me out too.

Temps will be ok when the lights are on. But being outdoor in a shed, humidity WILL be a problem! I use my attic to flower, with my 600w hps on it keeps it in check. Just!. but when my lights are off it gets high. Ive put an oil radiator in there to heat the space while the lights are off.I suspect that with 4 23w cfls on 20-4 you may just be on the edge of ok humidity. High humidty can cause powder mildew/mold more so at this time of year. I don't think that the heat from the bulbs would make it hot enough for the root zone to grow(they need heat). Can u section a bit off and put the plants in there? Or use heat mats for under the pots?
