New CFL Grower

I am currently only growing one plant under two 40watt daylight (5000k) cfl's and will be adding two 40watt soft white (2700k) cfl's within the next couple days once I receive my shipment of clamp lights. I plan to force my plant into flowering probably a few days after they have had the additional lights on it. I have been told that these 4 cfl bulbs should be good enough for just a one plant grow and am just looking for others opinions/advice to this. I added a pic of my plant at 16 days old which was just 2 days ago. Keep in mind that the supports in the pic have been removed so it is now just the plant in the pot.

that's a good start....just fill the pot up to the top n u wont have to worry bout support...from my experience if u keep those lights close they get stocky as 20121021_055313.jpghell...

Keep the light no more than 3" away, and yhey should be good for the one plant. You coupd also double your output if you get even more bulbs and some "Y" splitters. Just MHO. I am a upcoming cfl grower and the work great for me. (Small space grower)

Agreed.....I am currently taking a look at the Buds for Less book and its quite informative about cfl growing so will probably follow those guidelines concerning when to flower and so forth using cfl's. This is an unknown seed strain so gonna see how it works on this plant before trying on future feminized seeds I plan to grow.

I think you will be happy with the results. I'm new to the trade also and started 2 bagseed under CFL's I'm on day 5 of flower and so far I couldn't be more happy with the results.. add a couple 40 W 2700K to your setup and you will be laughin'.

Puff.

Plant is kept in a cooler room of the house so I would say temp hangs around 70 degrees give or take......I now have four 40watt cfls on the plant so that will heat up the area a little bit but not enough to say so

With four lights in there now the temp is reading at 85 degrees so I have a fan exhausting out the top of the box to try and pull some of the heat out and also just switched the plant to flowering today so that will help cut down on heat as well.

Also, should I keep the fan on during the 12 hours of dark as well or do I only need to use the fan during light hours when heat is being produced?

It's best to keep the fan running 24/7 man. Oscillating air over it at all times helps strengthen your girl. Just make sure your temps don't drop more than 10 degrees give or take a few between lights on/off.

well i dont have fans on 24/7, its not necessary.

No it's not necessary but it sure doesn't hurt anything at the same time. What works for one person isn't for sure going to work for another person IMO.

Now I'm not saying you are wrong by any means and I'm not saying I am right either. But I like to keep at least a fan oscillating on low 24/7 and have had great results. But hey what works for one person may not work for another so to each his own. We can only give advice and point people in the right direction and hope for the best.

How is your 12/12 from seed going? I've been interested in trying one of those but just don't have an extra cab for doing it. I have 3 cabs already and I'm not wanting to do another one but am interested in giving it a go one of these times.
