Question about basic Ventilation and Ducting.

I have a 2 x 2 x 5 setup with a 4" Carbon Filter.
MY fan is huge and loud af. but it's a 4 " as well.

First off, the carbon filter should be intaking air correct?

Would it be redundant to have the air being filtered through the carbon filter and then expelling within the room?

I imagine it would just constantly be filtering and cycling the air creating a sort of draft and the duct can hang facing the canopy of the plant(s).

Dude you want your smelly air, the exhaust, filtering through the filter. The purpose of the carbon, eh? That's where it will be most effective even if recircing room air.

Yes you can. What you do is this: --> = air flow direction

carbon filter --> ducting --> air cooled hood w/ HID light --> ducting --> inline fan/exhaust fan (at least 6'' w/ 4-600 w light) --> ducting --> exhaust point

alternatively you could do this:

carbon filter ---> inline fan attached directly to filter --> ducting --> air cooled hood w/HID light --> ducting --> exhaust point

now you want to make sure as much of the ducting is in a straight line as you can. Try and minimize bends, 90^ angles/etc.

Goodluck!

Oh actually one more thing- Does it matter if the exhaust is inside the tent or outside the tent?
Fans don't cool air they just move it around if you want it to cool you need a passive intake and exhaust your filtered air.and byexhaust I mean blowing air out of the top of the tent

If your running threw the lights you want it to dump outside the room. Other wise your trapping heat and that's not good.
