Tops & Light Hood

What do you guys think about this? The tops on my Monty Python twins have shot up to the glass. It's been 20 days since I started 12/12 lighting. This is an air cooled 400w HPS system, and the glass itself hardly ever reaches 85 degrees(f). Should I do something about this or are the temps low enough that those top buds will just grow along the glass? It'll be a slight pain in the ass to have to tie the tops down. How about bending? I've read in Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana Grower's Handbook that if you bend the top down to/below the level of the rest of the canopy then the rest of the canopy will grow faster as if you topped the plant, but the top keeps growing too. Anyone do this method?

Thanks!

I would bend those tops over and try to keep your canopy level. Also I would lower the light to just a few inches over the tops especially if your under a 400. With a 400 watt Hps you only get so much light penetration so everything under that is wispy hash bud. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Note the aggressive prune. I'm only growing canopy, anyway. I'm going to go ahead and bend them and that will allow me to raise the plants back up (the light is fixed).
