Well I was arguing with my dumb ass friends and they think platnum ment it has hash oil in it lol, anyway I had headband and platnum headband both were good but the reg headband was better and more stinky, frosty, with about the same high.... So any history out here on what I BELEAVE as a gimic for sales "platnum strains"

Platinum is literally just a label, a fabricated word, to label a strain. It doesn't mean their is oil in it. Just a part of the strain name.

I'm still pretty sure it has something to do with genetics, but... to each his own.
But really tho I grew headband and I bought platnum head band and my shit out did the shop in every aspect, flavor was louder and better then the platnum my high was a tiny bit better, the smell was was def stronger and also my headband was way more caked up lol.... See I only grow between 3-4 plants so I really pay attention to them and give them the best of everything everything optimum so if platnum and OG jus a selling label or from a master grower I think mine should be called platnum....

I get that, I am saying I don't believe it is a "label" I believe there is a strain that has the name "Platinum" That is common, and is crossed with things like headband

All totally possible, but they are TWO different strains; and you could've possibly had a really good pheno-type for your genetics, while the Platinum you compared it too maybe didn't have the same level of um 'good' pheno-type? I'm pretty sure I could find a shop in SD with Platinum Headband that is comparable or better than your crop. Not trying to diss, but there are plenty of reasons then just 'mine was better so that must be it'
I also don't believe growers when they tell people their flowers are better than pro shops. Why? Because all of my friends who grow and myself, have said the same thing. =)
Lol I also have those friends and they do have some bomb shit, ppl say the shop is the best because it was grown by a pro, but fuck that I use all kind of stuff and personally attend to each plant... Those shops are growing for cash and they might have pretty great shit, but I jus don't think thier 50 plants are better then my 4, what ever i do have the optimum condition EVERYTIME get flushed right. So if I go to a shop and buy some really really good og Kush and I grow my own OG it would be better, so I could call that platnum because it's comparable with the best.... Ppl don't think home grown shit ain't the best, but if u have some1 who know his/her shit then home grown is the best......

Platinum is in the name of some weeds because it's part of the strain, the genetics. It's not the growing conditions. lol
