Light trap for fans.

there are no light traps for fans. here's plans on how to build one out of foam poster board.
it's basically a rectangular tunnel with walls inside it to trap the light because light doesn't bend.
no light gets in anywhere except where the air comes out of the trap and into the grow box because of the series of walls.

i know this isnt very thorough but just play with it and if you have any questions let me know and ill answer them.
i used hot glue to connect the walls. and i used duct tape to tape the tunnel together. use small pieces of foam board to evenly space the walls and give them something to rest on. you want to put them parallel with whatever wall you're putting it to because the support/spacers are not for blocking air just spacing and supporting the walls. and i used some supports to hold the fan. hope this helps.
all the walls and cuts you make in the board have to be perfectly strait and 90 degrees so it fits flushly. if not light will escape.

When I was kitting out my first grow I made one of plywood with an S-baffle painted black. It killed the light and the sound from the out fan. cn

yehh light traps are pretty legit for stealth grows. i used foam poster board from the art store cause it was cheap. like 6$ and you don't need a saw to cut it. you can just use a razor blade and a ruler.

had a bunch left over from some duct work, i prefer it over duct tape in small applications. and guerilla glue works perfect if your fast!

yeahh guerilla glue works for everything. lol. i used to have some aluminum tape but i used it all. also duct tape isn't 100% light proof so i had to use a couple layers. lol.

yea duct tape take 2-3 layers to block most of the light, i did a rubbermaid bin grow once and had to use duct tape to light proof it took forever to finally cover it all up

yeahh. my first box was a cardboard box and that was a bitch to light proof lol. then i upgraded to a poorly built rushed wooden box. the box im building now, im taking my time and doing it right lol.

I've thought about this a while ago.
Cold / Hot cup of water to control temp and add humidity.
Hot / Cold sock of rice to control temp without adding humidity.

Probably wouldn't change the temps by a lot but every little bit helps. Also, you could control how much air you're fan is pumping using this as well.

temp control is important. but not what this thread is about lol. especially when you talk about cups of water in a fan enclosure with electricity. lol. not very well thought out.

weather stripping works great, for me weather stripping was to big and wouldnt allow my door to shut fully and lock so i ended up using ducttape in the same fashion i see about a small sliver of light coming out of my box. id say go get some weather stripping and try it just get a smaller thickness than 1/4" should be good

try taping cardboard around the inside edges of the door frame so it overlaps the door when you close it. and if that doesn't work the way you'd like go for the weatherstripping. that should definitely work.
