Surely with 0 veg and only 8 pots in 2x2x2 tent the plants will be too small and wont utilize the space properly?
I could understand if the tent was full of pots but I cant see even 500g coming off 8 pots with no veg time!! am i wrong?!

edit: i guess that where double potting comes in? plant 2 clones in each pot?

What about one of these 3' x 3' flood and drain tables? found them on a different site.. a lot cheaper than IWS!! as these are around £180
is 2m x 2m x 2m tent too big for these or about right? Only problem is I will have to get them delivered somewhere else hmm.
 
You really need to make your mind up about the style of grow you want.


SOG zero veg time only needs a 400w simply because of penetration power.

You don't need 5ft penetration of a 1000w to do SOG.

My post was a little confusing.

The 8 pot would be good to grow yourself some 3ft plants under 1000w. This way you should pull at least 4oz per plant.
4x8=32oz from 8plants. Or 896g. Nearly your target per light.

If you want to do SOG then you will probably want the 24pot system. Flowering clones that have virtually zero veg time with single stem lollypopped training with a single cola and minimal under growth but by doing this style is a complete waste of 1000w. 600w or even 400w to do SOG. But in order to maximise production a Co2 injection system would be more viable.

Work out how you want to proceed and I'll help where I can.

Bare in mind though that growing style chosen will decide how to setup your rooms.

This system is good enough for SOG but again you won't need a 1000w over it. Max 600w but plant spacing is very limited on these tables.

Ok i'm really a fan of SOG so i think if possible i want to do that style of growing, I've been looking around on some websites like 3 Counties Hydroponics and they sell a Ebb & Flow tank n tray set up i think its called EF420 114L and theres a bigger EF620 240L .. I'm not sure how to work out what capacity for water i would need - (thats why i said i get confused when it comes to nutrients!).. Are these set ups too small or too big for the tent which would be either 2m or just under 2m i think.

I am supposed to get all the stuff today and it might still be possible!

What do you mean waste of 1000 600 and 400 if i want to do sog? (as i dont need the light penetration?)
What lights would you recommend for sog over these tables in a tent? Less light the better i can get same yields with less lighting thats brilliant!
and yes then i can spend the money elsewhere on co2 input and other bit and bobs!

To a certain extent yes.

But the idea of SOG is to keep plants below 1.5ft where possible. 1000w is overkill as there is only so much light they can utilise. If you were growing 8x3ft plants then yeah a 1000w is the way to go.

In a 2x2x2 tent you could realistically run 2x400w using those tables you showed saving 200w of electricity but getting pretty much the same numbers.

Also by using 2x400w in both tents you could have each ebb and flow table with different stages of growth.
Start table 1 on week 1 then 2 weeks later fill another table 2 weeks later fill another table.


Then you would have plants at 0 weeks of 12/12, 2 weeks of 12/12, 4 weeks of 12/12 and 6 weeks of 12/12 allowing you to pretty much harvest a table every 2 weeks.

DOes this make sense?

you could be pulling 400g every 2 weeks realistically.

RIGHT - I have been doing a lot of reading!!! and a lot of worrying! (as per usual) ..

It is now time to put these words into action!

There shall be 2 x 1000w HPS w/ 2 x Digital Ballast and 2 x Adjust a Wing reflectors. (Like Al B Fucts)
There shall be 4 x Flood&Drain setups, (not sure what size yet or where to buy in UK)
There shall be separate area for Mums and Clones.. under 400w + flouros
There shall be a TENT for flowering area (probably DR240 or GR240) - not sure if thats too big

Either way I need to get my measurements right before I go ahead so I'm just following the best, most popular methods and taking all the advice everyone gives to me :hump: .. so thanks..

ps. does anyone know if I;m running 2 x 1000w in that tent whether I will need a dehumidifier this time of year? we dont really use any other heating in the building of grow area.
 
Update: found supplier for the the stuff I need to do a grow similar to Al B Fuct's.. including the rockwool floc which isn't at the local hydro shop! Flood and drain tables are 920mm x 920mm im gonna have 8" fan + filter in DR240 or one of those BudBox things.. Still deciding digital ballast or magnetic... and what nnutes and strain... is a 1000w over two of those 92cm x 92cm tables too much? i think thats the size of the res so the table might be slightly less.. HELP! i gotta decide now!
 
Like I've told you countless times before.

over 1mx1m table like that you only need a max of 600w.

If you keep plants under 1.5ft tall you only need a 400w. Meaning you can use more tables and lights.

1000w are good for 8x4ft plants.

SOG which is what those tables are DESIGNED for only needs 400w.

How many more times can I keep telling you the same stuff?

Sorry just re-read your post.

1x1000w isn't enough over 2 of this tables as it has a useable footprint of 1.5mx1.5m.
 
Tell me until its stamped and tatooed on my forehead! - which is quite big lol! Ok but i really wanted to avoid having to buy 4 x 600 + the ballasts n hangers etc.. :( and surely it would run 2400w which is 400 more than what was planned? Either way, whatever decision i make, will i F it up with 2 x 1000w? to be honest I'm really keen on the fact that its the same kind of punch in a smaller package that why I keep bringing it up! I also thought 4 600s would rape more electric and give off more heat.. I do however, appreciate your input! and I have taken your advice on board.. hmm?
 
4x400w would use 1600w per hour or 1.6kwh. Yes a contactor would still be needed. A 2kw power star contactor per tent. 2x400w per tent. The 2kw power star contactor allows 2 ballasts to run from it. £25 each. Cheaper than the larger pro model you looked at. Heat shouldn't be too bad. Maybe 1xRVK150L1 per tent with a matching carbon filter. J

he could also save money with a single larger fan like a 250, which will move around 3x the amount of air as a 150 , but only cost another £20
but he will need extra ducting and a spliter to feed each tent and perhaps box it off as it will make more noise :)

The rvk250e2-A1 pushes 760m3h the rvk150e2-L1 pushes 660m3h. While still maintaining a more common sized 6" flange. The 250 if used would require 250mm ducting and 250mm carbon filter. Most grow tents only have 6" vent holes so reducers would need to be used which would reduce efficiency in the fan. Whilst costing more i still think it would be wise to choose a filter and fan setup for each tent. J
