Agreed those ladies can go another week or 2.. Use a macro or 30x mag to see what the trichs look like, or take a lower nug and sample to see if its what you are looking for. Its really up to you mate.

alrighty...they have been sweelin pretty good past 2 weeks....being my first grow i dont really no how much swelling goes on so ill jus wait it out few more days maybe a week and see what happens...much appreciated..and also i did take a small nug about 10 days ago and let it fast dry jus smokin to see how good of a high it wasnt fully cure and it was decent stuff...so by that i figures a good week 10 days maybe 2 weeks still since at that point not many trichs...dont wanna rush and chop early

Someone on here said if u can't get a $20 microscope ur doing it wrong. From what I've read tho there r a few other signs you can look for. Swollen calyx, the "look" of the "hairs", and alignment of the moon's of Jupiter. Ha. Seriously tho get a microscope.

a microscope is good to have but IMO you're better off just letting the plant tell you when its ready. There are excellent stickys in the harvesting section you should read up on it'll help you better understand when to harvest because relying on the trichs can be misleading sometimes. better yet read this it's a great thread

Don't look at your top buds or any closest the light look in the middle or 3/4 down and that will tell the story ....30-40 % Amber there

What is that on your thumbnail? Trichs look a bit clear yet but some people like that. Take a sample bud pick it apart some and stick a fan on it for 2 days and you will know were you are at. Taste won't be there but high will.

No way plant 2 is a sativa. Hybrid maybe.

I'd say a minimum of 3 weeks. Being your first grow you should be focused on two things: not chopping early and not drying too fast.
Some of the biggest swells come in the last week of flower. Let the hairs brown off and recede into the bud, then the calyx will swell.

It looks like you have only had about one phase of swelling. You should have at least 2-3 phases before being ready. Believe me when I say you won't be able to wait too long.

Then cut the whole plant at the base and hang dry without trimming anything. This will ensure that it drys SLOWLY. As long as you don't invite mold, the slower the better. Enjoy the waiting game. 3 more weeks growing plus another 2 weeks of drying before you can smoke some.

I explain everything.

Quick sum up (you should still read the first post in that thread though):

Telltale signs of a plant being harvest ready:

A majority of trichomes are cloudy and a few amber trichomes (degradation of THC to CBN (signaling a 90%-260% loss of potency in the particular trichome)) have begun to show.
Calyxes have swelled up.
Pistils have receded into the calyxes.
And the overall look of the plant.

Trichomes are of course not the only indicator of when to harvest.
There are other factors that should be taken into account when determining when to harvest.

Calyxes on the plant will swell up, these swollen calyxes are a sign of maturity.
The pistils (what some new growers call hairs) will change colour (often to an orange tinge) and recede into the calyx.
Receding pistils are also a sign of maturity.
Then there is the overall look of the plant. Many experienced growers simply go by this factor, they can determine peak harvest just by looking at the plant and seeing how it looks from afar regarding colour tinge and the look of the calyxes.

All these factors should be taken into account when harvesting. All of these factors usually align when peak harvest approaches.

I assure u im not gonna rush drying and cure....theres no need to rush this after all the weeks of growing....ive done some research on msny proper ways of drying and cure and i believe ive gotten that down...only experience(getting my hands dirty) and time will tell.....my only worry at this point is the correct time to chop....dont want CBN to start and get a strong "couch-lock" not lookin for that and like said dont wanna wait 2 long and cause this....thanks for the advice and k0ijn i have read this many time thanks for the recommendation to this....
