I have kids that age and blood wouldn't be enough for me. I can't even imagine, I'd be so lost. Just lost. my son doesn't have to nap today but he does have to come sit with daddy. prayers for all the parents.

got a 1rst grader and a sophomore. makes me think more and more about homeschooling. unfortunately that wouldn't make as much difference as i'd like because i'd have to keep them from going to the mall and just about everywhere else it seems like. there is no place that is truly safe anymore. had a few acres inbetween lapeer and imlay city. moved back to the s.e. to be closer to work a few years ago. wife and i have been re-thinking that decision and are talking about someplace out in the sticks. but there are crazies everywhere so whats a parent to do other than teach their children to be safe as possible and hope you get to see them again at the end of the day. my heart goes out to every parent who's ever had to endure such tragedy and i cherish every day i have with my kids and do my best to make sure i never ever take them for granted. sad sad world we live in

When we pay teachers as much as bankers we will have the best teachers and the brightest kids with the brightest futures. These people would be found and possibly helped before their mind was lost to its affliction or respose to bad situation what ever causes this type of insanity. Kids would have more hope and the world just improves. impoverished nation rise up through education only. People who do this are genuis level a lot of times and with the right directives from the start might not go the route they do for attention. off the soap box with me now.

Not sure what that is supposed to mean but some honestly care & are all for protecting the kids cause we also live in the same "World" as they do.

I don't know why (other than it's so terrible) but this hit me hard today. I have 5 kids one 3 and one 8.. I couldn't imagine this happening to me. I thought about all those poor little kindergardners and I cried. So many families were crushed today and I'm sure a shockwave of sorrow has spread across the country. I don't remember feeling this bad even on 911..
I'm sitting here at work waiting for the night to get over so I can go hoje and be with my kids, that's all I want to do.. Been thinking about home schooling too. The wife and I were actually talking about 2 days ago and after this it's even more appealing. It's not just things like this either, these days school isn't fun with all of the bullying and teasing. Some kids are really little brats these days and act in ways we never would've when we were that age..

a tradgedy for sure...but even more tragic is it will like Aurora get the gun control nuts fired up to take away guns...exactly the OPPOSITE of what needs to be...ALL TEACHERS shoulkd be trained in gun use and REQUIRED to possess a firearm with the training to shoot well...would nip that shit in the bud

Not all teachers are good people moron!
People with gun permits WHO ALSO OWN one (for Recrational, Professional, or home defense) should be required to have psychological evaluation every 6 months.
If you're depressed or an angry person, you should forbidden from carrying or using them.
Places that should not have guns SHOULD have metal detectors as it obviously can't be left up to the individual to responsibly look after their own firearm (trigger lock and in a locked box and ammo apart from firearm when not in use)
If you do not store your firearm as such, or carry it LOADED and safety OFF, YOU ARE IRRESPONSIBLE!
Even while hunting, unless you are taking a shot, you walk with you gun muzzle pointed down and broken or safety on without one in the chamber, finger outside the trigger guard.
Guns have ABSOLUTELY NO PLACE IN A SCHOOL.

My 14 yr old daughter asked if I could take her and a friend to the mall so they could hang out tomorrow. I told her NOPE not until the crowds diminish. Maybe next year. She said ok which is very surprising. She would normally bug bug bug.

You're right...if they did have guns in the school prior to the gunman then 20 or more kids lives could have been saved...which according to you would have been a bad thing...hey why dont you use your head to think instead of using it to display lack of thought

The proper preventative measure isn't to kill someone, it's to prevent it.
And no teachers don't mold anything into a child mind without the parents say so. I'd imagine your the type of parent to just dump your kid on a teacher and blame their intelligence on the school? No my friend, that's not the way things work.
If you're mentally unstable you have no RIGHT to carry a firearm.
