Stunted Growth?

Ok, It's my first grow and I'm beginning to get worried, my main worry is my seedlings, which shouldn't be seedlings anymore. They had tremendous root growth in the first week and a half but the actual plant didn't seem to grow all that much, I ended up having to transplant them as the roots were formed to the point where I'd of said it was a 4-5 week plant, not a week and half and they were beginning to grow out of the bottom of my Party cups. After the transplant the plant itself hasn't grown anymore then 2cm in a month, but it's roots are still grabbing hold (When I press the soil with 1 finger I get the springy feel which from my experiences with my larger plant means the roots are once again spreading rapidly)

The Seedlings are currently on 24hr light after being moved out of the 18/6 due to no growth, I'v noticed maybe half a cm growth in a week on the 24hr light using 2 45W (115w equiv) 5500K bulbs at approx 2 inches from the leaves. The Soil is a generic clean soil (No fertilizers pre added) which I mixed in some Small woodchips for drainage, the base of the pots are filled with approx 1inch of Course perlite once again for drainage, the soil was treated once with a highly Diluted 20-5-15 before planting and the same for the transplant soil with 1tbsp to 5ltrs and the Ph when tested 2 days ago was 6.3 with 1 of those two prong Ph meters. the initial leaves died of on all 3 within 24 hrs of the serated leaves coming in. They're fed with 100ml of distilled water every 4 days and 100ml of tap water every 2 days. (If they're still moist I don't give them water) The temperature of the grow area is approx 64-72 fahrenheit.

The seeds are a Mixture of 2 Jock Horrors and 1 free seed which I'm unsure of what it is.

Here is a pic (All 3 of the 'seedlings' are this size give or take a mm or 2.)

My second issue, is my larger plant (the above seedlings are 3 weeks younger then this plant) the lower leaves appear to have nute burn which is when i stopped feeding it with a 50% diluted mixture of 10-15-15 and moved to a 20% diluted, none of the new leaves appear to be burnt and it seems healthy and extremely smelly, now my issue with this plant is, it's 3 months old, it's been on a 18/6 light schedule for 2 months but it doesn't seem to be growing at the rate it should be. This is apparently a Jock Horror though I'm not sure yet but won't be 100% until it hits flower (If it hits flower). It gets 750ml of tap water every 2 days and no distilled water, The catch tray is allowed to sit for 1 hr after watering then it is emptied. the Ph of the soil according to my two prong thingy is 6.6. The temperature of the area this plant is growing is 62-70 Degree fahrenheit.

...it's been my experience that seedlings should be left alone and not up-potted until they are WELL established.

...here's a few pics to illustrate just how long you can leave a plant in a small cup despite being 'rootbound'.

these first 5 show some of my 'recent' starts and in the first you can see some clones doing some early vegging, ...up top you can see how i actually pop my beans, which is to say, you can see i use 2 clear, 9oz cups, one to hold the medium and one as a temporary, mini, humidity dome which is removed as soon as the seedling emerges.

DSCI0128.jpg

...this next one here in the red cup, also 9 ounces, is a Strawberry Cough mom of my grobro's and he's had this plant in that cup for almost 2 years now and gets WAY more cuts from her than he can use. (all his mothers look like this and are in similar 'pots')

DSCI0153.jpg

...and finally, here i am potting up a few clones, i know they aren't seedlings but it still illustrates how large a rootmass you can grow in small pots.

...seedlings are pretty fragile man and you'd be better off waiting for your starts to fully establish themselves before up-potting into such large containers.

Hmm thanks, I'll see just how large I can get my plants in party cups next time before transplanting. (Also the pots I transfered into are only 10ltr pots, so not sure if that's considered too big for even the bigger girl). Is there chance of the seedlings recovering and growing or should I just start again?

I might try to get some baggies when I'm back in my hometown and get some practice in on those before buying $200 worth of seeds next time xD

Any help for the larger plant? (Approx 1ft tall after 3 months)

i ALWAYS recommend to new growers that they learn on free seeds, ...my first try i popped 30 beans and managed to kill them all, ...so i popped 30 more, lol, fortunately they were free bagseed beans and, also fortunately, 5 of that second 30 survived and even more fortuitous was that 4 of those 5 were female.

...those 4 females taught me the basics of growing, including reliably cloning, and i grew and smoked those 4 females for over a year before i decided to throw down on some store bought genetics.

...i'd also like to say that there is a world of difference between knowing a thing well enough to do it and knowing it well enough to teach it, which is why i like to share links to the threads that taught me, ...if i just rely on my own memory i'll surely leave out important details, i mean lets face it, i'm stoned most of the time, lol.

...what i'm getting at is that i can link you to some threads that changed everything for me but if you look around for my posts in some of the other threads here at RIU you will find i've already shared those links with several others, ...they are offsite so i don't want to keep posting the same offsite links and maybe get myself in trouble with the management if you know what i mean.

Well, I gave the larger a 50/50 diluted mixture of 20-5-15 and she's looking beautiful, Red/purpling of the leaves stems is turning back to green, the leaves are standing tall (Except the bottom 2-3 which i think I may have completely killed with the first burn), the leaves are lightening back up from the deep green to a medium green and she's grown half an inch in 14 hrs. Gave the little guys a hit of 20% diluted 20-5-15 and the second set of serated blades have come in in approx 8 hrs and they've grown about a cm.

(I Took a wing on the deficiency after reading the threads about deficiencies and noticing that my plants could either be abundent with 1 thing or needing another and I figured since they've never been fed except for the soil being watered with it before transplant I'd give em a feed and I believe it may have paid off.) Now to hope they don't go into an eternal sleep during my 1.5 weeks away.

Sorry for bumping this thread, I'm just a little confused.

All 3 of the seedlings above mentioned have all begun showing pistols, which is good I suppose. Only issue is, they're only about 6-7 inches tall and have never been under anything less then 18-6 light. They spent 4 weeks in 24-0 light and I moved them into 18-6 light a week ago and they've all grown pistols about an inch long. As far as I know these ARE NOT auto seeds and even if they were should a plant this small really be showing its gender to such an extent if at all?

Its probably just preflowers, tells you the plant is nearing sexual maturity and is about ready for the 12/12 show.

Pic?

Maybe the soil, i had the same problem i had a 2 months old plant that was tiny before, it was the cheap soil i used, once i transplanted it into biobizz allmix it took off and turned male :(

...morning man, i just wanted to show you one of my recent starts to give you an idea of the kind of growth that is normal and you'll notice that i sowed the bean into a 9oz cup on 11/21 and then moved the seedling into this 6liter hempy on 12/26 so just over a month later and i took this picture on 1/16 so she is just under 2 months old.
